Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17th August 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone
Been up since 3.30 am, but resisted posting until now. Think it is everything going through my head making sure I have done everything before we go off to France, via Lincoln Steam Rally later today.
Will try to keep the weight in control, but with a large group of sociable generous friends, it will be hard, food and wine will be plentiful.
:grouphug: :grouphug: 's all round, there are many in need at the moment, and Birthday/Anniversary congrations for today and the next three weeks.
Catch you onthe 9th September, better log off, else will never be ready:eek:
Take care
DG

Donny- gal, looks like we're the early birds today - hope you have a good holiday
Morning everyone
Bit overcast here today, I did loads of washing yesterday, then had to rush out to get it all in when the heavens opened.
Nipping to Aldi and Asda later, but as my dh said, i don't need much as when I open the cupboard door, everything falls out, and I nearly have to sit on the freezer to get the lid shut :rotfl:
Dentist tonight, and forgot and had garlic last night - I would hate to be a dentistOne of my teeth has become really sensitive, so if he pokes at it with that metal thing, I will hit the roof (and probably him)
Hope everyone is OK xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
:j:j:j
its friday and the last day of full time!! back to my normal hours after a long weekend! weather looks promising, may be able to get the garden straightened out tomorrow.
today will be busy though as I have to work two lists at once this afternoon.
thinking about jackieO and Pennypincher. hope they are both getting better.
also thoughts for those in yesterdays thread who are sad or unwell.x x x0 -
Morning. Overcast and dull here again. I am off to the big steam rally today nr St Agnes. Should be good, lots of stuff to see, and plenty of steam.
Went out last night for a walk on the beach, everyone was wearing winter coats and it was cold! Global warming my foot!!!! It has been a miserable summer so far.
Kids come home from church camp tonight, so it will be good to see them again. Lots of washing and early to bed I expect. Then we will get the depressive moods tomorrow as the vacumn left behind now that all their friends and activities have finished etc... I remember that when I was at camp... A great week of fun and then back to normal was a big comedown.
Well hope you folks have a ncie day....NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Good Morning All
Have a fantastic holiday Donny-Gal
Sunny here at the moment. I was out longer yesterday than I expected and was totally shattered when I got home so no ironing was done. Just going to post this check banks then will sort the ironing out - only going to do what we need for this weekend. Will be checking the weather forcast but think I will definately need to pack umbrella's. Luckily at Pontins theres lots to do even if the weather is not great.
Hopefully will be heading off about 1pm - am looking forward to the break, especially as I have loads to do next week as am changing business name & meed to write to every client & supplier urgh - I know it will be worth it but what a pain. Also having a big barbeque next weekend for about 30-40 people - anyway going to put all that out of my head for this weekend.
Have a good one.0 -
Hi all
Got to do some shopping today then will maybe go to an adventure and heritage farm, they have great stuff for kids, get to go on diggers, quads and there is a playbarn for wee kids, so hope it is a fine day for it:D
Tidied out the airing cupboard yesterday, got 3 big binbags full of stuff out of it and it is so much tidier, found a cuddly toy as well that i thought was lost.

Bore Da,
got up to boil a batch of chickpeas... the places OS takes me, the things I do!
Delighted to say that the WM is NOT on, as I have washed and dried everything... well, I think so - the rest of the family will now produce piles of dirty clothes. I even started the ironing last night. That holiday seems years away!
Charlies_mum good luck, I hate going to the dentist even though mine is really good and has small hands. I used to go to an Australian with huge, hairy fists - awful!!!!
Donny-gal have a great time, hols go too quickly!
(((((((((((((Hugs to all, especially those who are unwell.)))))))))))))))))I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning All
Donny-Gal - have a fab holiday. I'm so jealous!
Charlies-mum - have fun at the dentist
I've made a decision. Even if they offer me the job, I'm going to turn it down, unless is super money - which I don't think it will be. My life's here with my friends and family. And I'm well established in my current job. Sometimes it's better the devil you know. Do you think I should email the other company and tell them I'm withdrawing my application, or just wait and see what happens?
Got a flat viewing this afternoon. It sounds really nice and it's completely in my price range, so really hopeful I'm going to like it. Could get things back on track for me finally after the ex screwed things up:rolleyes:
Spending tomorrow on the seafront at an airshow with a friend. Can't wait. I'm normally there all four days, but missing the first two this year. Working Sunday morning and then I'll be back down there. Fish and chips on the beach in the evening, is a tradition for this event. Never know, I may find a nice pilot:rotfl:
New t-shirts have arrived at work:eek: No way am I getting in them. I asked for a vest top anyway and it's not arrived, so sorry no deal!:rotfl:
Hope everyone has a fab dayComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Morning all............(((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))) if you need one,
Just off, had a lousy night, but hey whats new, I can sleep in tomorrow.........Have a good day folks...................September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.
Tesco £57.13
Petrol £10.000 -
Morning all - not been around for a bit as that pesky real life stuff got in the way
Best wishes to Jocketuk and anyone else needing hugs today
Last day at work today before long weekend yay! I am taking 10yo dd to the climate camp at the weekend so will need to pack for that tonight. I will check before we go though to make sure that i still think it will be safe for her. Next weekend is Reading festival so that's two weekends running in wet muddy fields.
Dad is getting married today - I couldn't get the time off or afford the fare really but we will see the whole family at xmas so will celebrate again then. They have been together for over thirty years and are really just tying up loose ends as he is a british citizen living in holland and the tax laws make it better for them to be married. myself and my siblings do keep asking them if they're sure they're not rushing into things
Really skinted this month and now have a budget of about £5 per day for food so we have been having lots of interesting freezer and storecupboard challenge combinations. Tonight's tea will be soya bolognaise and ... er ... couscous
have a good day y'all
stefI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080
