Was looking at the Survey sites and I'm really not sure. I have a crazy working week which is all squashed into 4 days so am usually out of the house from 7.30am - 9.45pm at least 3 days out of the week so any surveys I get then will have no chance of being looked at.

I would be interested to know other people's opinion of using survey sites in terms of time & Effort V payout. DS1 is part of an academic survey group which he earns a reasonable sum from but that is invite only via a university alumni I think.

I used to do matched betting quite bit and did well but I seem to have lost my confidence with these type of things. Baby steps maybe....

Had some lovely meals today from my WW cookbook. I do not eat meat at all but do eat fish so had a lovely piece of salmon with roasted pots/peppers/toms flavoured with black onion seeds.

I am really thinking of going fully vegetarian as the more I look into how things are farmed the less I am impressed. I always buy free range eggs and am horrified to read about the whole de-beaking thing and what happens to the unwanted male chics even with free range ones. Maybe I need to find a local farmer or allotment that will allow me to buy eggs in the most ethically produced way.

Spoke to DS2 last night and he said that his first day at work was, and I quote "It was crazy mad but cool" take from that what you will:rotfl: He has been given 24 hours at min wage £5.13 which will really help him out. Hope they keep him on after the 2 week trail.

Really looking forward to lunch today with my friend who has recently returned from honeymoon. Should be relatively inexpensive as we are going to share a cheese platter and have 1 small glass of wine. I'm hoping £10 will cover it but will take more just in case.

  • I used to do quite a few survey sites but I just don't have time for them these days. I work three days a week and my other two are spent doing bits round the house. I found you had to put quite a bit of time in to get anything back. And you really need to be checking them daily.

I have been reading your diary, you are doing really well. I love your daily posts on Health, Wealth and Happiness.

    Thanks ICBW:)

We had a lovely afternoon and decided to go for 2 sharing platters of olives and bread and a melted Camembert and roast veg platter also cinnamon sweet potato cubes.

Only a small glass of red wine though as we were both driving. It was lovely to make the most of a sunny day before we both return to reality next week.

Thanks for the post Clairey, the Health Wealth and Happiness really strikes a chord with me as I do believe they are all intertwined in some way or other.

I also did lots of surveys but it was when I was working from home quite a bit and only worked part time hourly paid so I could check them regularly. Will do a bit more research on that one. I also did lots of mystery shopping but again, change of jobs to full time makes it really difficult to grab them as you have to be really quick when they are released.

  • As we are visiting DS1 for the weekend today is the last full day I have before returning to work on Monday to really get myself sorted. I am not worried about returning but I am worried about the volume of work that I will return to:( Trying not to dwell on this and will make a to do list in preparation for Monday. I could do with a good half a day today to do some grading of assignments which were handed in before the holidays. I do love my job (at times) but sometimes I feel totally overwhelmed.:o

OK, if I do nothing, then nothing will be done so best get on with my day.

My BIN item on £bay has a best offer of £12 (£15 is the BIN price) so I think I will take that which means I can get it in the post tomorrow.

T£SCO CC bill has arrived with a balance of £883.07 after interest has been added. I have had a good look at the money situation and with a bit of juggling around I think I can clear the whole balance. I still have a bit of money left from the car boot and as I am back to work next week but have a full tank of diesel and enough in the food budget to last the month. It will be tight but doable. Some of this will be paid with some money we borrowed back from the mortgage (£600) so most of it is just moving debt around:o

    Goals for today:

    HEALTH
Go for a quick 4 mile walk this morning
Attend my WW group tonight (hoping for a little loss on the scales)
Try and remain positive and grateful and not let things overwhelm me regarding work stuff.

    WEALTH
    Accept BIN offer
    Pay T£sco CC balance
Withdraw cash for weekend visit to DS1
Take some more cash from change jar to get bits from supermarket. (need a bottle of wine and some beer to take with us, DS1 is providing the food)

    HAPPINESS
Try to remain positive and busy as I am feeling a bit low:(
Smash the grading of assignments and mark all outstanding (about 11 I think) I will feel MUCH better if I do this.
Organise some appointments in my diary for next week
Drop off 2 bags of goods at charity shop (PDSA)
Enjoy spending time with my WW group, such lovely and supportive people.

Hope I haven't come across as whiney today, just feel a bit low but will pull myself out of it:)

  • Not whiney at all - we all have good days and bad days. I'm having a 'lots-of-little-things-getting-to-me' day. You're doing the right thing - plodding on and not letting it bring you down.

Hi, well done on your progress.

I just wanted to come on as you mentioned survey sites and its true a lot of them are a lot of work for a small reward, but you also mentioned the academic one. Would that be prolific academic by any chance? If so then you don't need an invite nor to be a student to be a member. I use it and they pay well for the surveys - much better than many others. You just log on as and when you have time and if there are surveys for you then they tell you that you are eligible before you start. So none of that 20 questions in and 'we're sorry you don't qualify' stuff. I hop on and off most days and in term-time was averaging £5-10 per week for not a lot of time.

  • Thank you Crazy Cat Lady for your kind words and I hope you day is going well. I have only just managed to get re-connected to the internet so have managed to do ZERO work tasks but had a lovely chat with my neighbour who works in a similar field and she told me to leave it until I return to work on Monday and the the universe was telling me to due to the internet not working. Think she might have read The S£CRET but I was grateful for the cuppa and chat. She is right of course, I worked hard to earn my holidays so to give up half a day is a bit of a shame with the sun is shining.

Sunday is traditionally my getting ready for work day and as the weather is supposed to turn here I will flag Sunday afternoon for work related tasks.
