These things take time.....

Well, yesterday did not turned out as planned. Had a lot of running around to do and ended up talking ourselves into having lunch out at one of our favourite restaurants. I tried to make healthy choices but ended up spending £21.70 and totally going over my WW points. II did skip dinner but had a choc ice and some crisps late in the evening, and a peanut butter sandwich:o Never mind, line drawn and back on track today.
I did however have a lovely long conversation with DS1:A
Car Boot fair preparations is going slowly so need to crack on today and have a look what is in the attic:eek:
Goals for today:
HEALTH
STICK TO MY WW POINTS!!!
Go for a 4 mile walk with OH
Do NOT have a take away.
WEALTH
Sort out rest of car boot stuff and load into car ready for tomorrow.
Do NOT have a take away.
HAPPINESS
Pick up DS2 from bus station:j
Collect parcel from depot as they failed to redeliver:mad:
Do one load of laundry, iron and put away.
Hope everyone has a great weekend."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
What a hectic weekend:eek: Glad it's Monday so I can have a bit of a rest:rotfl:
Positives and negatives over Sat/Sun but overall a good result.
Sorting out the Car boot fare stuff ended up being a mammoth task as there was so much stuff in the attic which meant a lot of up and down the loft hatch and much cleaning. Talked ourselves out of a Sat night take away which I am proud of:A
DS2 came with me on Sunday morning and with car fully loaded we set out our car boot stall. What a salesman I discovered he was! The 4 M££RCATS sold for £41:eek: Apparently one was a limited edition and DS2 had done a bit of research. Anything that used to be either his or his brothers I let him keep the takings for so after taking out the £12 sellers fee he made £40 and I made £85 :T totally worth all the effort.
It's his Birthday today and it is traditional for us to go out for a family meal, his choice. He chose TG!Fridays. The bill came to £55:eek: It was something that we would have done anyway and we did reduce the Birthday budget significantly this year. In previous years we would be talking a party in the house, meal out and at least £100 on a present.
I feel very achy today from lifting and carrying and going up and down loft ladders 50+ times! Going to try and have a productive yet restorative day. Here are my goals.
HEALTH
Restorative yoga session.
Walk with OH when he gets in from work (this does depend on the time he returns though)
Eat healthily and drink more water.
Walk 1 mile to post box DONE
WEALTH
No spend day DONE
List 1 item on Ebay from the items not sold yesterday. DONE
Pay min payment on Santand£r CC DONE Sig updated.
HAPPINESS
Do 1 work task DONE
Clear away all car boot stuff which did not sell. Some I need to take to charity shop.DONE
Take at least 2 hours out of the day to lay on bed and read book (might fall asleep). DONE
Give kitchen a good clean.DONE
Iron and put away clothes (from Friday:o) DONE
Last week off work for me and I really need to get into some sort of routine especially with laundry. You would think it would be simple with just the 2 of us but I don't seem to be able to work it out.
Hope everyone has had a great weekend and have a good week ahead:)"These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -

I was over the moon with £85 and DS2 was very happy with a £40 boost to his zero income at the moment as his student loan has long gone and bank of Mum and Dad is supporting him at the moment. Thankfully he had an interview which he felt went really well and we have a strategy agreed for next year to ensure that this does not happen again. We have had to give him an eyewatering amount of money for rent and living expenses over the last few months."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
Fantastic news for DS2:j
He has just had a phone call re- interview and has been given a 2 week trail starting tomorrow. Min wage job in retail but its some money coming in and will give him some responsibility.
I had a conversation with him yesterday about everything coming together for his this year as it's his final uni year and how I am sure that the stars will align for him as they did his brother. Nothing like a bit of positive thinking sometimes.
Had a good day so far. Managed to list 1 ornament on Ebay which should sell for around £10 Had a lovely read on the bed and fell asleep only to be woken by one of those awful dreams when you are falling:eek: this time off a cliff with a car full of people.Still feel a bit shaky. Maybe it was the onion bagel I had for lunch?
Paid off the min payment with Santand£r and updated signature.
Managed to do all the things on my Wealth and Happiness list for today. If I get a walk in tonight then will have done all 3 goals:j"These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
Hi there, just wanted to say I enjoyed reading your posts and hope its the start of a successful journey to debt freedom again for you. At least you know how to do it and that its possible.
I know what you mean about kids back home from Uni - my DD1 is currently eating me out of house and home although like your DS, she's got herself a job which is helping her towards costs for Uni next term. Im just pleased that she's getting the experience of how it feels to earn money. Hopefully it will make her more prudent when she comes to spending it!0 -

Thanks for postingGlad that you have enjoyed reading my diary so far. I am quite happy to ramble on but really do appreciate people posting as it can get quite lonely in here.
It can be really difficult for uni students to manage money as the come straight from school almost to living away from home with an income that is received at the start of each term. Glad to hear that yours has a part time job and seems to have a handle on things. Quite a big thing to get their heads around. Hopefully his final year will see him being more money MSE as he has had to live on a VERY tight budget for the last few months."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
Ah yes.... the wittering on to oneself can become lonely! But you know there are probably many readers who don't comment but who are taking comfort or inspiration from your posts. Least that's what I've been telling myself!:rotfl:
Will subscribe and keep you company0 -
