You won't beat the highest ironing mountain I think I hold that record! In my pre flying days the only time of the year for reasons only known to my brain the ironing basket/pile needed to be emptied were Christmas and before the holiday. My worst ever was a pile that leant up the wall and reached windowsill height, it took me about 4 days of solid ironing to clear when it was like that. NEVER AGAIN!!!! Little and often is the way to go.reason being the longer it stays in the pile the harder the creases are to get out and if you have small children there is a danger things will be outgrown while they are in the pile. Trust me this has happened!

Good luck with your ironing, ladies. From the sound of it, some of you may be gone some little time! I shall not switch on the iron for the sake of one tea towel :p

Had a lovely day out with DH yesterday. Today he is working on the railway and I am at my NT vol job all afternoon. Unfortunately he is working from the "wrong" end of the line for me to do my shopping this morning as I had planned - will have to leave that until tomorrow, instead, when we are at the "right" end.

    Today I must
    - do WM x2 and pray for no rain
    - order some sheet music
    - post a birthday card
    - make some phonecalls
    - sort one corner of the study and rearrange the shelves

(((Hugs))), spoons and sticks to all, as needed - thinking especially of you, CY x

My ironing is complete! There was only five items this time and there's not enough in the laundry basket to make it worth putting the wm on today. All settle throws and cushion covers have also been done and replaced. I even thought the mending pile was complete but Dh mentioned he'd broken the zip in a pair of work trouser so I might change that today.

Going to clean tortoise out now then his bark chip can go in the co post bin.

I think I must be the token slattern here. Ironing tea towels?

I had ten things to do on my listy yesterday and managed eight, so two left for today - the stairs and the bathroom.

I'm still inordinately proud of managing to get seven boxes of carp out of the attic.
    Better is good enough.

I have pegged out two loads of washing and emptied the DW.

I have sorted 2 bags of stuff for CS, including books.

    here is my

    SUMMER TOOTS LIST

    paper living room
    make blackcurrant jam
    make bramble jelly
    sort through car boot stuff
    update bank account
    pay in PTA money
    update PTA accounts
    dye hair
    book haircut
    varnish wood in dining room
thank you cards for summer gift
sort gift box and record contents
    buy birthday cards for Aug/Sept
    buy wedding outfit

    progress so far -

    blackcurrants picked, jam made
car boot stuff sorted though - 2 bags diverted to CS

AND, INSTEAD OF POSTING THIS LIST YESTERDAY I APPLIED FIRST LAYER OF VARNISH TO WOOD IN DINING ROOM! This has been on my Toots list since 2012!
I have also been and chosen and bought the wallpaper!

erm Honeybear *whispers* I iron tea towels too! And yellow dusters! (I remember many years ago my Grandmother being disgusted by the state of my mother's dusters. Mine are pristine! Having said that I use a mf duster glove now which is brilliant, but I still, on occasion, use yellow dusters.) WELL DONE ON THE 7 BOXES OF CARP!

Well done to the ironers. I include Mr N in that, is it is his task.....and very good he is too.

I've got a whole day "without planned commitments" but of course a humungous list, and I need to spend the day in the garden too.

Watch this space. I will not be daunted. Anyone else popping hay fever tablets like crazy? That's what prompted "hoover whole house" as high on my list.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
