Yes lets create a class system on an open and free forum because those who have more free time and are able to post a lot of comps should be treated as a separate class on here than those who don't for many reasons. A horrible thought to have and goes against everything MSE stands for.
Thankfully one that would NEVER happen at least not without a lot of damage to the MSE forums as a wholeThankfully most comp posters here don't feel the same way and are decent people doing it for fun and to help others for which i suspect all members are very grateful. Posters like Weeowens, Clair, Katie, Firefly (I could go on and on) seem to genuinely enjoy posting and helping others have a chance to win. You change it to a class tiered system in preference of comp post numbers you change the reason for people posting from selflessness to personal gain
Back on topic, if you see a comp and its not on here then share it. Its the whole point of the board.August-September 2017: Lots of stuff

Well, I appreciate the sentiment/implication that I'm perhaps not a decent person. You really brightened my day.
I quite enjoy posting too, and have posted loads of comps on here (hundreds of them) ... my logic is more in the realm of "if you have the time to enter hundreds, maybe thousands of comps a month then i'm not sure why you can't find the 2 minutes to post something you found elsewhere"
Also, I run my own business, work 10 hours a day, 6 days a week and i have 2 dogs to walk, so if I can enter what I want to and still post comps, you'll be hard pushed to convince me that others don't have time to post.0 -

Agree with this 100%! :T
It doesn't matter how big or small the contribution is, but if you are well able to help and you KNOW you can, but you're consciously not helping for whatever reason that's where I don't agree with it. No rule saying you have to, but a post every now and then, even if it's just helping a comp poster with an answer or added info etc. is fantastic and is well appreciated and really isn't that much effort in between all the time it takes to enter competitions. I know some will find it difficult to know how they can contribute; I completely appreciate that and that's no problem at all. I know I didn't for a long time, and even now I still don't do half as much as a lot of folk, but the point is that anything you can do is enough. So long story short: if you know you can help in any way, big or small, please do consider it!0 -
Ooh never saw email and I must confess I tend to be more of an enterer than a poster (though I have posted in the past).
I do find it hard to find any that haven't been posted but this thread has inspired me so just got a little local lunch competition posted, so thank you for getting me of my butt to do it
Hopefully more to follow.June Wins - Antandec travel mug0 -
I try and post as many comps as I can. I get almost as much of a buzz when I get a message from somebody who has won from one of my posts as I do when I win a prize myself.
I work full time and sometimes I find a comp on my 30min lunch break but don't have time to post it. By the time I get back from work, I usually find somebody else has posted it.
However, like Di, I have on the rare occasion purposely kept a comp to myself. The example that springs to mind is I found a competition for a holiday to New York the day before the competition shut. You had to make a video of yourself singing a jingle and the one with the most votes won. There weren't that many entries and the ones that were there were rubbish - not a single person sung the jingle, they just read it out. I entered, badgered all my friends and family to vote and won. I don't feel guilty about not sharing as I know if I'd have put it on here, some cheat would have found it and bought votes and won unfairly. I don't begrudge anybody winning a competition when they have put the effort in of making a video but I do resent people with no creativity winning because they've bought votes. I don't usually enter voting comps because of the cheating nature and the only reason I entered this one was because I knew I had a chance of winning fair and square. If I had have posted it, bearing in mind it involved effort and I only found it the day before it shut, I don't think many genuine MSEers would have entered as we all feel the same about voting comps so I don't feel I cheated anybody genuine out of a win.0 -
I have noticed on a few occasions when Di posts creative competitions on her website that require a bit of time and effort, they are often posted alongside the sentence "but be quick, it closes tomorrow!" not giving readers much time to enter also.
These comps are usually for children's prizes so not relevant to oldie me but I sadly feel the timing of the posts are premeditated to keep the entries low - which is her prerogative of course but it does not sit well that it is under the guise of being helpful to her readership.0 -
i'm newish.... i've only just started posting comps that ive found... in the short time that i have been a member here, i've gotten so much from everybody's posts, i feel the need to give back to everyone else0

Put it in a simpler way:
If everyone decided to be selfish and not share the comps they found, this part of the forum would not exist! Thanks to all posters :A0 -

And I noticed on Twitaculous when I had my free week that a lot of comps were posted late at night - 11pm onwards - when they closed at midnight the same day which struck me as contrived.0 -
The only reason I don't post competitions that I have received in emails is because it seems such a faff, what is the correct order? How many spaces? Etc.
I think a form would be a good idea, fill in the fields click enter and it would appear in the correct format. No spam please I'm British!0
