    The email:

    Comping tip!
If you want to win prizes, you need to look for low-entry comps that nobody knows about. That means using your initiative and searching Twitter and Google for the prizes you want, and hunting down local competitions - NOT entering all the comps on PrizeFinder and MoneySavingExpert, which thousands of others are entering too! And if you don't have much time for comping, don't waste it entering Retweet or Facebook Share comps - these get thousands of entries because of their viral nature! It's better to stick to Twitter replies and Facebook like or comment comps, and avoid sharing whenever possible. Remember, if you really want that prize, don't tell everyone else about it!
Want to read more comping tips? You'll find a hundred of them in my new book 'SuperLucky Secrets' - and you'll also get the chance to win £100 cash when you buy it!
I have nothing against Di, I was just surprised she wrote this!?

Read the email first thing and was struck by this immediately - nearly posted it up but decided to let sleeping dogs lie :D However, I am afraid I thought she was saying don't share at all, and she mentions this site by name  I took some exception to this as I dislike anyone who promotes themself by running down others  Her book was originally published as an ebook; she is now kindly allowing you to buy a paperback version at £9.99

Sites who do it for money obviously prefer "amateurs" not to share so traffic (=revenue) is driven to their own sites.

    ^^^Agree with this 100% :D

I am going to put my life on the line here because I know I will be slated but here goes...

Firstly the way I read the above is that Di is saying not to like and share FB comps, as many will know you can be banned for it. I am in no way sticking up for her because I neither like nor dislike her, but that is the way I personally interpreted it.

I hope this thread does not go the same way the previous one like it did, where folks like myself who do not post comps are made to feel as if they do not belong in the forum. I feel different folks contribute to the forum in different ways and it does not have to be by posting comps although like many others I am grateful to those who do.

    Hiya Mansey,

I totally didn't meant to express that a member has no value to the forum if they don't post any comps. I very rarely have time to search and post any myself! It was more an ethical thing. You would assume that she has benefited from other people sharing a comp with her, so purposefully finding a comp and not sharing the info sounded like bad karma to me. We all know it decreases our odds of winning but it's just the thing to do when you are benefiting from a community. I think it's particularly bad from someone who markets herself as someone who helps other compers; a 'comper's friend' if you will.

If no one here passed on their info then I wouldn't enter any at all!
Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!

I totally agree, if I were one of the folks who posted comps and I found one that hadn't been posted on here then I would share it because others were doing the same for me :)

As someone else above mentioned if a person does not share a comp someone else will find it and share it, I don't think we miss out on much. ;)

I really don't mind being a "useless" member of the forum, I find the chat as entertaining as the comping :T

had the email as well & tbh thought it was a bit strange
with the ''That means using your initiative and searching Twitter and Google for the prizes you want,
and hunting down local competitions - NOT entering all the comps on PrizeFinder and MoneySavingExpert''

when one of the vids show her searching for comps on
    sites like them :rotfl:

After re-reading the email mansey, I have to say I do think that Di was only trying to say that entering the L&S comps not only adds to the number of entries into the comp but it also puts you at risk of losing your account (because L&S comps are breaking the rules) So thank you Mansey, pet! :) Therefore sharing on FB has both its advantages and disavantages. I tend to only enter like and comment FB comps but do the odd L&S comps if the prize is worth L&S for. I do think it is lovely when MSE users post Facebook comps on here though, whether it is a L&S or L&C or App - as it leaves us with the option of whether we want to enter or not..

Di runs a FB page where members can share L&C facebook comps so I do think she is trying to help. I suppose it is how you read into the email Sharing is caring in my eyes so I hope Lady Luck will be on my side if she sees me sharing :)
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

By the Jungle Drums are good in the comping world and Di's spies are hot, I am sure she will be along soon to verify what she meant. ;)

All advertising is good advertising so they reckon....

    Oops!! :rotfl::rotfl: Well spotted fire**fly :T

I'd much rather stick with the MSE comping community - not just for the comps but for the chat and camaraderie too :D

Lest we forget - comping is a HOBBY! It's not about skulldugery and 'hiding' comps like Golum and his 'precious' - surely a hobby is best enjoyed in the company of like-minded others?

Call me a cynic, but I just read this as (to paraphrase) - oi, don't trust the big sites, look what great advice I'm giving that no-one else will, I'm your true comping friend and that's why you can trust me...oh, and by the way spend a tenner on my book!

= just another canny marketing ploy
=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=
