Could someone please post this email; don't keep it to yourself...

Yes, could someone post the highlights ... otherwise this thread is a bit redundant ...

I just read that email. I think when she says 'sharing' she means sharing the Faceboom posts, but I think the issue lies with saying not to tell everyone about a comp if you really want the prize.

There have been loads of comps that I've found that I'd love to win, but I still share them because even if I don't win, I'd still love it if a fellow forum member did.

    Comping tip!
If you want to win prizes, you need to look for low-entry comps that nobody knows about. That means using your initiative and searching Twitter and Google for the prizes you want, and hunting down local competitions - NOT entering all the comps on PrizeFinder and MoneySavingExpert, which thousands of others are entering too! And if you don't have much time for comping, don't waste it entering Retweet or Facebook Share comps - these get thousands of entries because of their viral nature! It's better to stick to Twitter replies and Facebook like or comment comps, and avoid sharing whenever possible. Remember, if you really want that prize, don't tell everyone else about it!
Want to read more comping tips? You'll find a hundred of them in my new book 'SuperLucky Secrets' - and you'll also get the chance to win £100 cash when you buy it!

I have nothing against Di, I was just surprised she wrote this!?
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

Over the years, I've found many Twitter comps that have ended and haven't been posted on here but have been retweeted by forum members who use the same username.
Maybe there's an assumption that one of the regular posters will find it and post it, which isn't always the case, maybe they think about posting it and just forget or it's the hassle of trying to post them from a phone. Not going to lose any sleep over it and I suppose we'll never know.
I post as I find them even if I've no intention of entering them (I'm lucky if I enter 50% of the TW comps I post. I think KatieL said she enters even less!).

I guess that's the definition of a professional comper ... she's actively making money from comping ... and not just by winning stuff ...
All she's doing really is making it harder for people to win (herself included), but at least she's winning by lining her pockets.
You could say that any one of us could have dreamed up the idea ...

I suppose the content of the email is true, really, you will win more if fewer people know about the competition. Some very active members of MSE also say this and say they seek out the comps with low entries.

I never saw the email either (probably because I stopped them :rotfl: ) but I just had a gut feeling it was going to be Di Coke ;)

In other words - everyone enter less and increase my chance of winning more!

I find it more ridiculous that anyone would need to buy a book on entering competitions!

I am going to put my life on the line here because I know I will be slated but here goes...

Firstly the way I read the above is that Di is saying not to like and share FB comps, as many will know you can be banned for it. I am in no way sticking up for her because I neither like nor dislike her, but that is the way I personally interpreted it.

I hope this thread does not go the same way the previous one like it did, where folks like myself who do not post comps are made to feel as if they do not belong in the forum. I feel different folks contribute to the forum in different ways and it does not have to be by posting comps although like many others I am grateful to those who do.

I have been here a few years now and I think I would be scared to post a comp, many many times a newbie has attempted to post a comp and a made mistakes then along comes a forum user and says no this is wrong, that is wrong go read the guidelines, then along comes another forum user and posts the link for the newbie, but no one actually tells them what they have done wrong and how to fix it. It must be really off putting to a newbie who is trying their best to help by posting comps but is being slapped down.

As usual just my opinion, off now to get my metal knickers

I do not feel that is quite correct, mansey. No offence meant of course but I try & help newbies when I spot them posting comps & making errors. I do not recall ever "slapping down" a new poster.

I usually point out the error & often add a link to the comping guide. I have even sent PM's but usually find that a waste of them.

Coming back to the original point of this thread I am just glad that we are not all following the advice in the email re sharing. We would not have the great resource that is MSE Comps if we did.

No offence taken at all weeowens ;)

We all have an opinion pet, and I respect yours, as I said that is just my opinion. :)
