Fmess - Bless you for moving the cat.

TOG - well done on your bargains.

I will be spending money today but it is from my 6 week holiday budget which is a set amount and in cash in a little bag. We are going to the cinema this afternoon, I get 1/3 off my ticket, we are going to VUE and they do a little tray with a drink and snacks for £2.99 so the kids will get one of those each. I don't mind buying the snacks at that price as the cinema is a fairly rare treat for us due to the exorbitant cost.

I will be working this morning then an early lunch. After tea DS has swimming club and I will get out for a run. Got 3 loads of washing dry yesterday, checked for blackberries but they are still a couple of weeks away from ripe yet and cleaned the downstairs of the house and the loo.

    Have a good day all.

  • Good morning all! Nannygladys, don’t worry, we’re all here to give you all the encouragement you could ever need each day! Bob, good news on the rebate, and the shepherd’s pie sounds yum. Stewby, thanks for checking in, the allotment sounds brilliant, any ideas what you want to grow in there yet? Fmess, VM sound a bit daft! Hopefully they’ll give you something nice to compensate you for the day you’ve lost. TOG, I am AMAZED at your YS bargains, what time did you have to get there to get all those?! I hope you manage to fill the application in. Dolly, cinema sounds like a nice treat, what are you going to see?
Well, gig was okay last night (OH hates standing near the front as it’s always hot and busy, I hate it near the back as that’s where everyone stands and chats – compromised with nearer the middle but could still hear people chatting – why go to a gig and then not listen to the music?! Sorry, rant over!) and it was a SFD as parking was free and I’d already paid for the tickets. I added a tenner to the savings instead. Today will also be a NSD as I’m at work all day and have no intentions of going anywhere tonight, I’m shattered already! Wish I drank coffee! Have a good, mindful day turtles!

    Morning all,

Feeling absolutely shattered today and like I might be coming down with something. I've come into the temping job though as I need the money but think I'll have to slow down with the decorating, or I'll burn out and I have nice socialising to do at the weekend.

Today should be a SFD. I'm getting cross with myself as I'm spending a lot of money at the moment, what with decorating, new clothes and shoes for work next term, the car and a possible holiday on the horizon. I know these things are not getting me into more debt but they are preventing me getting out of debt faster, hmmmmm.

Hope you all have a good productive day.

    Hello Ninja Turtles,

My enthusiasm fizzled out again last month and there were too many uncertainties. I'm still keeping track of things and know where I stand but I won't be joining you this month either but will hopefully be lurking and cheering from the sidelines again till I join you again from next month (with more CC debt ) in the run up to the soon to be here festive season (won't mention the C word just yet :rotfl:).

    Good luck

Academia - my pet hate as well, its not as if going to a gig is cheap night out either. When I went to see Fleetwood Mac the couple in front of me just kept talking/ kissing each other. So annoying. Who did you see? Much prefer to be down the front, even with a dodgy back. Old biddy trying to mosh oops.

Thrifty - nice to see you again. Come back soon when you are ready we miss you.Hope everything resolves itself.

Fmess this life thing does get in the way, I desperately want a holiday or a break away. Dog sick again this morning so going to pop home lunchtime and leave her out in the garden. Fingers crossed there is no mess I go home to. I also need to decorate, waiting for back to improve. Have the paint but seen some rather expensive wallpaper I really like.

Not sure what my cunning plan is
    a. try and pay off as much as possible this year and chill out with a break away next year.
    b. take my time and have some kind of life as well, including a mini break this year.
    c. Find a rich Prince Charming to clear my cards off.

However now got into a pattern of avoiding shops, unless going to something specific. Feel so guilty spending money - Kat has trained us well.

Wearing heels for work today and my back is brilliant, improved posture? Going to keep off flat shoes for a bit, ordered insoles yesterday for plantar fasticitus will start wearing them again in my walking boots and see if pain in my ball of my foot eases. Determined this is not going to beat me.

Feel sorry for my daughter applied for a job welsh essential - she can't speak welsh at all and now has a welsh assessment over the phone this week and only if that is successful is she invited for an interview. Listening to learn welsh cds in her car hehe.

Stewby - allotment sounds a great idea. Good luck with it.

    Declaring my 2/20 Sfd today.

Thrifty apparently Selfridges has opened its xmas shop - 143 days to C.
    Doomed we all doomed.

Sorry to hear your dog is poorly again calling :( Hope there is no mess to clear up when you pop home.

I am currently going for option b on your list, as I am just coming up to my 2 year anniversary of my LBM and after this years setback, I couldn't keep going full pelt as I have been doing.

I am secretly hoping for option c, although I think I'd miss the pride of paying off my own debts, it would be nice for someone to buy me treats :)

A spendy day today as dss + gf have arrived from Australia via a fortnight in Vietnam! 2 loads of washing done so far...

I would have eked out the food we have if it were just the usual 'us' but felt we should offer a choice! They are only with us until Thurs morning so am happy to treat them well!!! And as I enjoy food shopping, I was more than happy to go to aldee and get some grub.

I've altered my s t r e t c h fund target by taking off the amount I usually put in, but then putting it up by another £50. Gulp. Tis a 'heavy' month with monies needing paying out.

We may have dss + gf staying with us indefinitely from the end of the month so I shall most definitely HAVE to do a meal plan!!!

We are back from the cinema - we went to see Minions. The car park was £3.20 which was a bit annoying as I had to get the ticket first and guesstimate the time and ended up paying more than needed. I got my 1/3 off my ticket and also had a £5 giftcard from the last time I went and they overcharged me and I complained, all in with kids snacks and parking it was £19.25 - still not cheap for just a couple of hours.

Oh dear - confession time. My Next order arrived today, I desperately needed new skinny jeans and as I am 5'10" I need the long leg that they offer, I have bought two pairs at £24 each, also got DD and DS some trainers £64 in total and DD a new winter coat £38:eek: but haven't decided whether to keep this yet, also have a PE bag on it's way soon for DD. Tomorrow our new awning for the caravan is being delivered - our old one came with the caravan and it is leaking, I have re-proofed it and it is fine in showers to light rain but in a downpour it is coming in so I had to order one - we got a good deal and got one 50% off in last years colours, still an expensive item to buy though.

I need a stern telling off - I really don't want to slip back into that 'oh what the hell' type of thinking which leads me to sleepless nights in the long run. Glad I've fessed up on here now though.

Fmess - How sad about the cat. Really sorry to hear that happened. And not nice for you to deal with either. Dont beat yourself up about progress, sometimes it is impossible to be thrifty.

NannyG - Hope your daughter has a lovely 40th birthday tommorow.

Stewby - Hope you have a nice time at the allotment.

TOG - Again impressive YS haul :)

Dolly - Could you not sneak in your own treats? Thats what most people do at the cinemas here as they are so expensive compared to bringing your own.

Academia - Glad you enjoyed the gig, hope you have survived your day?

Apple - That will be nice for DD to have her older sibling around for a bit, despite the food bill :) I hope they learned to cook lots of great exotic treats on their travels.

Thrifty - Hello, hoping new CC debt is related to a car purchase or mortgage from what you were saying last time?

Calling - You dont need Prince Charming, sistas are doing it for themselves!!!! sorry about your pooch. :(

Me today. Did a £10 PAD to CC1 & a £3 PAD to the business CC. Just waiting for the dust to settle on this balance transfer before I do anything big. I want to ensure that the bit left on the expired 0% card is paid off first and foremost. Then can turn my attentions to the other card.

Dinner tonight is chicken fajitas using a £2 for a 8 piece chicken pack (thighs & legs) from Mr S, which will do for dinner & OHs lunchbox. 4 leftover tortillas from last week that have been carefully saved in the ziplock bag, & some onions/peppers. So pretty frugal.

In terms of being Mindful. I had my moment today looking at the enormous trees near my sons summer school, most of them had conkers on that will be great fun in a few weeks. Made me focus on how much I love September, the promise of another school year (even when I didnt have kids I loved it) crunchy leaves, bonfires, the end of the heat, I really do love Autumn most of all. It made me feel really happy.

    Hiya Turtles,

I have a random question and the answer is probably really obvious.

I have a built in fridge freezer. The freezer is frosted up. The only controls I can see are in the fridge, dial with 1-6.

Can I, and if so, how do I turn off just the freezer to defrost it? Anyone know? I'm not sure I have the manual for it.
