The eggs aren't cooked at the same time as the grills are being cooked. They are the same type of grill, and later in the day those grills are used for meat, but before they have eggs on they are cleaned in the previous nights 'close' (i.e. where everything is immaculately cleaned). McDonald's have to be extra stringent with their eggs due to health and safety policy, it's one of the main reasons why breakfast can't continue on after 10.30.

Interesting. McDonalds in Hong Kong serve the Breakfast menu all day including egg McMuffins. I wonder how they manage that.

I was in costacoffee, and waiting for my food (I know, it's a complete rip off, but I like panini's) and noticed that 2 girls behind the counter were messing with their hair, pulling the split ends off. When my food was delivered I mentioned to the assistant(assistant manager) about the women, and she said that she would have a word with them as it is disgusting. One of the women concerned came over and wanted to know what the fuss was about, I explained that it's disgusting, behind a counter to be messing with hair and then serving food and drinks, she argued with me. I told her that I wanted to see the manager, and she cooly informed me that she was the manager.....hmm I said I was very suprised about this, she was then very defensive saying was it her age...I said no, maybe coz you aren't setting a good example and arguing with me. I told her I head office address and telephone number. She flounced off and returned with it, and said she was going to walk away before she got angry.......hmm. I rang up and complained and was sent a £5 voucher, I replied with a explicit letter back and returned the voucher. I was then sent a grovelling reply, stating that the manager concerned has been sent on a food safety course and a management re-training. They also increased the voucher.

i cant believe she had the nerve to question her actions with you, she was touching her hair when she was serving food, its quite obvious what the problem would be. yes you were right to take to head office, but as asst manager , she was the one who was supposed to be setting a good example!
wonder if they get mystery shopped!

the irony was that it was the assistant manager that told the manager (who was messing with her hair). It was shocking, my friend who was with me, now won't take me to dodgy places as I should have a job with environmental health and always conplain if somebody isn't doing things as clean as they should

Money saving at the expense of profit hungry corporations may seem good fun but doing it at the expense of genuine music loving fans just seems mean. The sooner ticket touting is outlawed the better. People who order extra tickets for the sole purpose of selling them on are depriving genuine fans of reasonably priced seats and to be honest morally puts them in the same league as the profit hungry corporations. Touts offer no added value and the profits they take is pure exploitation.

Encouraging others to do this seems to go against the ethos of this whole site.

My other half used to go the the venue where there would be touts galore. He would ask how much they were selling for and then say nah mate too dear. About 10-30 minutes after the concert started (usually when the support/warm up act were on) he would go and say to the tout, i'll give you £XX for those tickets. It worked because they didnt want to be left holding tickets which they had paid out for, and were resigned to the fact that at least they were getting something for them, all be it for less than they paid :rotfl:

Warranties… a bargaining tool. Sales staff are often targeted on the amount of warranties they can sell on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis. Reaching this target is often crucial to them; therefore it gives consumers a real bargaining tool to haggle down the cost of products that are suggested to have a warranty.

In addition to buying a product at a cheaper price, you’re free to change your mind within 14 days of purchasing the insurance, and are entitled to a full refund on the policy! Therefore, you end up with the item you wanted cheaper and no warranty cost to pay.

This is not a smart idea for mostly because if you try this option your extra discount will be refunded at the time you refund your warranty because all the big stores use a 'Managers Discount' type code and then put a reason in for example "Goodwill" or "Warranty", if they do that they are well within their rights to charge you the discounted extra. They can and will do this because it forms part of the overal purchase for the same reason that if you buy a product and get a free gift at the time of purchase and then try to refund the original product and you don't return the free gift you wont be able to get a refund as you haven't returned the contents of the whole contract.

That said why do you want to stitch up the sales person, if they have done a good job and you are happy with the way they have treated you why do you want to slap them in the face?? Yes sales people are targeted on warranties but if you refund your warranty then they loose their contribution to their target.

  • Probably not the right discussion, but I noticed a few posts about refunds for mistakes at supermarkets.

We are on a survey panel which gets us to scan our shopping when we get home. Since we've been doing this (a few years), we've 'saved' a couple pounds on each big shop as we've spotted all the double-scans, multi-buy discounts not coming off (what a con they can be! but we'll leave that for now!). On one occasion we had a £2.50 voucher for something (dishwasher tablets I think it was), but when it scanned it was added to the bill. (We spotted that one as it went through, but its the same principle.)

It doesn't matter which supermarket is is - they all make these 'mistakes'.

Considering the number of people using the shops who won't check, they must be making a fortune each day from these 'mistakes'. I personally think its deliberate, and they count on people either not noticing or not being bothered with the hassle for the sake of a few pence. Yes, they all offer to refund doulbe, but its a risk weighted in their favour. If less than 50% of people notice or complain, they are making money out of it.
