I have upgraded my delivery to first class 1.99 will be here in 2 days. What I have ordered is more expensive elsewhere so gave in and have paid the postage. The funny thing is I live about a five minutes drive from amazon! Shame I couldn't go and pick it up!0

ive noticed amazon using the 'home delivery network' recently who deliver the whole way.
i have an item on supersaver ordered oct 9th.
i see its been collected and is at DROITWICH wherever that is??
but shows estimated delivery 19th oct
im guessing the couriers do it very cheaply as they are given a wide range of delivery window so can move items as it suits tham and when they have trucks with space.
as for TNT they pass the bulk of their amazons to RM for delivery.i have also seen stuff that has been on delivery with TNT (going by the TNT sticker) but is then passed not RM for a rediliery? dunno what the story is there.
at RM we needto note how many TNT amazons we get to charge them so RM lost the contract, still deliver them and it adds another stage to the process :rolleyes:0 -
In my experience, Super Saver items arrive quickly once they've been dispatched. The problem is that they can take a while to leave Amazon - someone said that the way it works is they earmark the stock and set it aside, but it only gets processed when they've got a slow spell. The idea being that way they can keep the packers working.
How true this is, I don't know, but it would certainly explain the inconstencies I've encountered with Super Saver. It can leave the same day, or up to a week later. And it certainly does seem to be taking longer for Amazon to get round to posting Super Saver deliveries than it used to.0 -
well there we go,2 days to deliver under supersaver0

I never order from Amazon unless I can't get the item cheaper elsewhere and as lobg as I'm not in a hurry for it.
Last christmas I ordered items in October, got one of them in Nov with a note saying the rest were to follow - then got a letter just before christmas saying that they weren't getting the stock back in.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Just had my ordered delivered after upgrading to 1st class. I did need them as they are xmas gifts that need wrapping and posting. Didn't want to leave it to the last minute!0

I've noticed they are getting slower and slower. I ordered a dvd from cdwow the day after I put an order in with amazon. The dvd arrived today and I am still waiting for amazon to dispatch my (instock!) order.0

Same here. I avoid Amazon now, because they're so slow, and use them only for stuff that might involve a warranty claim if it breaks. So for books, CDs, DVDs and things like that I normally go elsewhere so that I get a quick delivery. Amazon's loss - not mine.0 -
The only reason I still use Amazon is that Freeola's Gameaday competition, which I enter every now and then, has the option of getting Amazon vouchers as prizes. I'm down to my last twenty quid's worth of vouchers, which I've just used, and I won't be using Amazon until I win some more.
I mean, Super Saver's all well and good, but when you can get the same item, at the same price, delivered free from any number of other stores, it's not worth doing. I'm also a bit irked by the fact that Amazon has made it harder to distinguish between an item being in stock with them or being sold via a Marketplace seller.0 -
I've used Amazon lots for at least 8 years now. The service nowadays is awful compared to what it used to be - when they started the main reason I used them was because they were so quick! I still use them a fair bit because I often get free Amazon vouchers but in contrast to years ago they're much slower & also no longer cheap!
The other thing I've noticed is that the lead times are a myth. If something is in stock that's fine, but if it's (for example) 1-2 days it means a week, if it's 5-7 days it means two weeks & if it's 1-2 weeks it means months! I never order anything that isn't in stock anymore because of this (got caught out last Christmas ordering loads of stuff that should have been in stock several weeks before Christmas but none of which actually was....)
Shame because Amazon absolutely rocked when they started.0
