I ordered a travel guide to Mexico on Monday, as we're going there tomorrow (Sunday). It was in stock and ready for dispatch when I ordered.
Even though I chose Super Saver delivery, I thought surely it will arrive by Saturday.
But no, it hasn't. Really cheesed off about this as I now have to make a 50-mile round trip to my nearest branch of Waterstones that has it in stock (phoned the branch of W.H.Smith at the airport and they don't have it in stock  ). So I've had to shell out twice for the same book, and the Amazon one will be sitting on the doormat when I get home.
I can understand them using cheaper delivery agents, but what I don't get is that Amazon didn't DISPATCH the bloody thing until Thursday evening, even though it was in stock when I ordered it early on Monday morning!
If this is purely an attempt to make customers spend extra on First Class delivery, it seems very vindictive and quite ridiculous to delay the dispatch by 3 days, and I won't be using them again for this reason.
(Cue the dawn chorus of MSE trolls - Dave Brooker / uktim29 / dangeroussports - all together now.... repeat the mantra after me.......... If you don't like it don't shop there... stop moaning about businesses... they can do whatever they want... what's the point of this thread?.... etc etc)0 -

Anyone else think that supersaver free delivery is getting worse, it used to be a couple of days slower than 1st class but i ordered an in stock game on the 13th which still hasnt shipped and my expected delivery date is the 20th to the 24th which could mean a total of 11 days to ship a DVD cased game. Shocking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
I ordered some stuff of them with amazon vouchers and qualified for the free delivery, after ordering was given a delivery estimate of nearly a month and it only took about a week to deliver:rolleyes:to be updated:;)0

They don't use the post office any more.
You pay peanuts you get monkeys.
My father had last two pension giros go missing because the pension people decided not to use the post office during the strikes, it would have got there quicker if he had walked to pick it up an 84 year old.
I managed to track it down and we collected it ourselfs.
My father has access to money but I hate to think what would have happened to others who have not and needed their pension to live on.
Sorry for being off topic and rant.0 -

If you wanted something in a hurry you should have used there guaranteed delivery, ive never had any problems with supersaver but if it was something i wanted quickly i would use next day of first class delivery.0 -

Not the point of the thread.
If I wanted something guaranteed to be delivered quickly I would factor in the cost of the postage and more than likely use another website.
The problem with the Amazon website is that Amazon state stuff is in stock and so if you use Free Supersaver delivery you expect the delivery to take as long as second class post.
I've actually had books delivered directly from Belgium which were listed as being in stock on the Amazon UK website. If the book comes from Belgium then it clearly isn't in stock and it should be indicated as such.
Other companies i.e. CD-Wow indicate that stuff comes from other countries so there will be a delay in delivery. Amazon doesn't do this.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
