  • Well done Kirsty. That balance is coming down nicely. Also yay for the holiday.

I found it really hard to get ex oh to budget with me. He too has no debt to speak of but it always seemed to be down to me to organise anything.

I wonder how others get their oh's on board once they get their lbm.

    Take care.

Thank you all so much, I can't quite believe it looking at the figures!

I'm not sure there's much left to sell, but I'll be doing my best to find a few more things this month :rotfl: Kitten my DFD at the moment is June 18 - I'm hoping to being that in to as close as Jan 18 if I possible can but will take a lot of work to get there. I'm lucky at the moment that all of my CC debt is 0%, but MBNA is due to finish at the start of June so I'm hoping I can get another 0% deal so I can keep paying off the capital rather than interest, if not it will hamper my target DFD  must work on getting it down as much as possible by May so I have a better chance of a 0% deal.

Ena, I'm actually getting very excited about it - I had a moment of regret after actually booking it but that's just because I had an idea of how my 30th should be in my mind and Morocco didn't feature! At the end of the day, it's a lovely break in a fantastically cultured country and I can go to Mexico another time, when I can actually pay for it outright! I've never been able to pay for a holiday all in one go the way we have with this - granted we got an amazing deal (both of us, all inclusive 4 star resort for 15 nights for £1000) but I am proud of how far we (or rather I) have come with regards debt and credit card usage for such things.

It's so frustrating isn't it Tink? I'll happily try suggestions if anyone has any?

What are your different credit card totals? Would that help to see that in comparison? I like to see the difference in the credit cards over the total as the total still scares me. It's silly 2 credit cards under £2k and I can sleep at night one credit card with £4K and I panic. Different mindsets for different people I guess. How much is left on the MBNA? Any chance of a challenge on this? X

    Hi Kitten,

I've got £4600.00 left on MBNA and £2890.00 left on Barclaycard. I've paid £1600.00 off my MBNA card alone since October by Pading - all my PADS (apart from minimum Direct Debits) go to that card to try and clear it quicker.

It wasn't long ago that my total CC debt was over £12000, compared to £7490 now so I'm definitely getting there, I just want to do it whilst paying as little interest as possible!

So it's just those two and the loan? That's amazing! You had payday loans and loads of expensive credit cards and now look at you! Could you focus on getting Barclays clear for a bt? Or getting MBNA under £2000? Yay! Kirstypoos! X

I think sometimes I forget how far I've come because there's still such a long way to go - but you are right Kitten! I've gone from not being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel to an actual (and realistic!) Debt Free Date with only 3 creditors left!

The barclaycard has a 39 month 0% offer on it so I'm just paying a set amount to that at the moment which will clear it before the 0% runs out, but the MBNA 0% is up in a few months so I'm going to try my hardest to get that to 3K so I'll hopefully get another balance transfer to put that on!

Think you need to celebrate when you get half way. You're not far off. It's an important milestone and you need to acknowledge how far you've come. It's something I struggle with too. It's like a fear of becoming complacent.
You've done 16 months so far :) well done you xxx
