Thanks Tink, I still can't really believe it if I'm honest but I'm so happy to be in there. Even with the things that aren't going to plan, I still don't mind - I'd rather they be going wrong where we can fix them than waiting for my old dodgy landlord to bodge it.

My Mom is slowly improving - her knee isn't broken, it's soft tissue damage but whilst doing some tests they have decided she has arthritis in both knees. Poor woman can't catch a break. She's on the waiting list for a bowel operation at the moment and has numerous other health issues, I would love her to be better and not in pain/on morphine daily but they say there's nothing they can do for the hip/spine issues so I guess they are just going to get worse :(

Wrapped another batch of presents last night as we have our friends Christmas dinner tonight and are exchanging presents there. Only a few more to wrap now (and they are ones which haven't arrived yet  cutting it a bit fine!)

Still have OHs stocking to fill. Every year we fill a stocking for each other with daft bits - last year mine had 2 bottles of bleach (I'm obsessed with the stuff!) some de-icer as it's a running joke I never have any in the car, a scratchcard and some chocs. Lovely to have a few little extras that don't cost the earth and are useful :)

Getting closer to the Christmas party which I'm looking forward to, it's the night before Xmas eve so happily booked the following day off. I'm refusing to buy anything to wear so will rummage through the wardrobe this weekend and probably come up with something random but I work in a male dominated industry (only one other female in the company) and they wouldn't notice if I turned up in a bin bag - where I used to work it was a big competition about who had the nicest dress etc which cost a fortune (Cringing as I remember the year I paid £250 for a dress which has never seen the light of day since ) thank god I moved companies and can get away with jeans and a jumper should I want to!

Edging ever closer to breaking up for Christmas, and I can't wait...but I'm also a bit worried. The extra time off work usually means going for lunch with friends we don't see often and nights out - we always do a couple of pub crawls during the christmas break which can cost a fortune. We have limited ourselves to one this year, and a night out on Saturday was cancelled to save some money so it won't be as expensive as usual but I'm worried the temptation will be too much. Must stay strong! We have invited friends round for a games night (articulate, rapidough and trivial pursuit are faves of mine :)) we have a stock of wine I've been given from clients at work and people will bring a bottle, not to mention a mound of frozen snacky stuff I have in the freezer so it will be a 'free' night and we get to enjoy time with friends.

Had been debating travelling to see my Grandparents this weekend, but we really can't afford the fuel before our paydays, and they are away at my Uncles after that so won't see them before I go back to work, will have to arrange a weekend in January to go and see them.

Had a lovely night at our friends Christmas dinner, and because we'd already paid a deposit back in October it was mega cheap - 3 courses and a bottle of wine for me :o and a guinness for OH and it was less than £30, well within budget we had set (although I wasn't going to have wine so it should have been even cheaper :o)

All min payments will be going out on or before 27th December, including household bills so at least I can rest assured that that is all covered.

Forgot to mention that I made the first overpayment on our mortgage (a grand total of £1.30, every little helps! If we made that every month we would shave a month off the mortgage...food for thought about what larger overpayments would do when I'm DF) which I was ridiculously excited about :D

Quick weekend update from me :)

We had a lovely night last night with some friends playing board games, with a few frozen pizzas and a couple of bottles of wine. Such a giggle, it made me feel so festive!

Had a phone call from my friend who asked if I would look after my god daughter today so I've had a lovely time! She's an absolute joy, she's 15 weeks old and teething but in almost 7 hours she was only grizzly once and soon nodded off and woke up full of smiles. Such a lovely end to the weekend, even going back to work tomorrow doesn't seem so terrible.

Finishing work for Christmas on Tuesday and then don't go back until 4th January so a lovely long break.

I've got a hospital appointment on Wednesday AM to hopefully get a plan in place to decide on the next step for my acid reflux and hernia so I've got everything crossed that I can get some idea of when/if I'll get some relief.

Hope everyone is in a festive mood :)

    Evening :)

It's all slowed down massively at work so I'm actually managing to catch up on things I needed to before Christmas but didn't think I'd be able to :T

One more day to go, I can't wait to have some time in the house with OH, I feel like its been so busy with the move and things breaking and then Christmas coming that we really want some time to just enjoy being in the house.

Had a sainsburys shop delivered last night so alcohol, cheese, crackers, snacky stuff is all sorted and I've already got the meat so just veg to get on Wednesday and then we are sorted. I love Christmas dinner but it will be a bit different cooking it all by myself - normally myself and my mom do it at their house. At least there's only the 2 of us though so if I really mess it up we can have micro pizzas :rotfl:

I did a bit of tidying and cleaning when I get home so OH told me to go and have a bath and he is doing dinner - a lovely soak but I was so hungry I got out after 20 mins...most unlike me, my long baths are legendary!

Hope your Christmas dinner goes really well Kirsty. I'm sure you won't need those mini pizzas :)

Thanks Bob, I hope so, and I'm sure OH does too!

Last day at work today :j

Getting quite nervous about the hospital tomorrow, trying to concentrate on Christmas to take my mind off it.

The hospital was actually ok - they want to do another set of tests before confirming the operation but they have given me yet another drug regime to try so hopefully that will give me some relief over the next few weeks until the appt for the tests comes back.

Had my Christmas do last night which was fun. Eventful, but fun. We ended up with one lad being chucked out because of drug use  and another in an ambulance after taking something (not sure what at the moment) I just don't understand people who take drugs. Each to their own but when it potentially affects a companies reputation and someones health, I can't stand it. I was a bit merry (thanks to a free bar) but soon sobered up when I had to spend 20 mins on the phone to emergency services and trying to get the boy to respond to me.

We've had a very strange Christmas Eve, it doesn't feel Christmassy at all. Ended up driving over to my parents town as there was a lovely lady who GAVE us a large range style cooker for free! :j It's lovely - needs a really good clean but it's great so I can't wait to get cracking on that over the weekend and hopefully have it installed next week (electrician friend comes in handy :rotfl:)

Hopefully everyone is ready for Christmas and looking forward to time with family and friends :)
