HI Kirstypoos. I recently discovered your diary and have started reading it from day 1. I have just finished page 19 (so still a long way to go), but I noticed in your signature that you'd almost cleared your debt, then it changed to 100% cleared so I thought I'd skip ahead to see your recent post announcing you are debt free. When I saw that you are having a baby next month I actually cried because I am so happy for you! Wow Ch4rly, that's commitment! Thank you so much for reading along my ramblings, and for having me in tears again - although with the hormones that is a daily occurence! I've been a lurker on your diary for a while and was sorry to hear about the problems you were having with house sale/purchase, it is SO frustrating so I'm glad your seller is pulling her finger out
Fingers crossed your dads visit goes well too, such a pain for them to delay it though.
I love working out the interest savings Abba, I'm so sad but I don't even care
I managed to leave work only half an hour after I was due to today - it's progress :rotfl:
One of OHs friends has bought a poster off me that we had accidentally bought 2 of so he will be transferring £40 to me next week to cover the cost and postage which is a bonus. I bought some fillet steak from Marks and Sparks for valentines dinner but I didn't feel well so OH ate them both :rotfl: He made me a lovely wire heart with clips for photographs and a lovely letter attached to it, which made me cry (there is a theme here at the moment )
I'm going to have a nap now, if I can sleep - night times are difficult at the moment so afternoon naps are the way forward. I feel like such a nana! xx:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Well done on the mortgage OP's Kirsty, I'm jealous!
Enjoy allll the naps you can right now, I used to come home from work & just nap on the couch, it was great! To be honest I sometimes still nap when DS does, especially when he's up & down all night with teething. Thanks Sashy - they will be almost extinct after March so I want to try and get them in ASAP - although apparently baby brain is worse than thought as I had an email for car insurance renewal this morning which I had forgotten about - this goes on a 0% card and is paid off over the year. Paid it very early this year and had FORGOTTEN  to budget for the money CC payments next year
I'm still concerned about how we will cope on maternity pay too. Going from a fairly decent wage for me down to £540 a month is NOT going to be easy. I have budgeted to my hearts content but until baby arrives it's all guesswork really... scary thought!
Naps are definitely the way forward. By the time 1pm rolls around I can barely keep my eyes open
Am currently on countdown for both finishing work properly and my next scan to make sure he is still growing ok and find out about induction plans - now THAT is scary. Exciting too though. I can't wait to meet him and see what he looks like
With the car insurance fiasco I may not be making many more OPs at the moment.... how frustrating! xx:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

SMP was a big shock for me after my usual wage & I don't have a mega high wage or anything. I suppose it's better than nothing though (which is what I'm on now  hence my KIT day next week).
Not long to go, it will fly in. :j I'm sure the induction plans will be fine, I think the thought of it is worse than the reality & you know when it's happening you won't care how labour began, you'll just want to meet your baby.I think I wasted my time worrying about being induced etc, in the big picture it doesn't really matter but at the time it can feel all-consuming.

Dragged OH to a birth partners preparation class yesterday, which he actually didn't moan too much about, win! It was really interesting - run by the lady who does my pregnancy yoga and she really focused on why men struggle with birth and the evolutionary reasons behind it, so I think it helped both of us. Only time will tell!
I'm absolutely dreading my first SMP payment as I know that will be the point that I'm likely to panic. I know I can make it work but to 'lose' over £1200 a month from the budget is so scary.
I'm doing some prep things at the moment like raspberry leaf tea and spending lots of time on my ball because I'd like to try and go naturally, will have to see if Donut agrees with me though....if he's anyting like his Dad he will be super late as he will be far too laid back to rush anything  Either way the session yesterday really helped me to see that whatever happens, it will be worth it and there is no such thing as the perfect labour and birth.
A car on the estate was deliberately driven into last night - the owner has posted CCTV footage on our FB group and it's such a strange video, the offending car drove round the block a few times and kept reversing up to the now damaged car until they drive round again and just straight into it. Not sure what the purpose of that is but I really am getting a bit worried about all the local crime happening. OH went up to bed before me last night and was asleep when I went up, I lay there for an hour convincing myself I could hear noises downstairsNot helpful for sleep! Probably also not helpful that I'm obsessed with crime dramas and documentaries at the moment

Glad you felt the class was worth it Kirsty. I thought my DH would flap and/or not be bothered/playing on his phone etc but he was actually really good & got involved.
I must admit there were a couple of times he annoyed me & if looks could kill he would have been dead but overall he was great. He, in turn, was amazed that I didn't swear at him & was actually quite nice to him. :rotfl: Must have been the drugs. :rotfl:
That's quite weird about the car on your estate. Try not to worry though as it seems to have been someone targeting that particular car. Maybe the owner annoyed some strange person??Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Hi, just stopping by to comment for a change - I'm normally just a reader of your diary.
I wanted to reassure you RE: the SMP payments. I've had two little ones, so two lots of mat leave and both times I was on basic SMP. First time, I had a really small amount of savings behind me and second time was a surprise pregnancy and we were in the midst of moving house so we had spent all of our savings!
You can and will get through it. You are debt free, you're overpaying into your mortgage and you've got your head screwed on when it comes to money so I have no doubt that you'll manage.
We came out of mat leave #2 with a little bit of extra debt but overall we managed. It was childcare for 2 that crippled us WAY more than mat leave!
Good luck with it allCC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

Haha sashy, that made me laugh - I'm sure that's part of the reason OH is happy for me to have whatever drugs I want at the time :rotfl:
Our only birthing scenario disagreement so far has been about the music I want playing - OH wants Rammstein and the like and I can't imagine that will encourage relaxation and helpful breathing for me :rotfl:
The general consensus on the estate is that it was a drunk driver as the car that caused the damage was found abandoned and unlocked blocking someone elses drive yesterday, the house whose drive it was blocking have never seen the car before so who knows what will happen. Police weren't interested and still haven't been out as far as I know so that doesn't fill you with confidence!
Jojo, Thank you - I felt ok about it but because I keep forgetting things that need budgeting I am having a real stress about it all. Not helpful to anyone really! It does help me to be reminded that people have this battle every day and survive!!
Childcare is definitely my biggest worry for the future at the moment. Luckily my Mom will be doing one day of childcare for us, which will reduce the bill by about £200 a month and I am hoping to do 4 days a week but there is obviously a financial implication of me not working full time and I earn more per day than nursery costs, but I've weighed it up and we are still able to cover our costs with me doing 4 days a week and I feel that extra day would be better spent with the baby at the moment.... I'm sure I won't regret it but it's a scary decision to make! xx:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)
