It's such a lovely time, so exciting!

My sister is having the same second baby expense issues! My niece is only 15 months and not out of pushchair yet, so she will need a double that will convert back to a single when the eldest will walk, and she has expensive tastes, of course! They have also just decorated their spare bedroom for little one so baby can have the nursery and she is also due in May - lots in common there! xx

My daughter has opted for a buggy board rather than a double pushchair but the age gap will be bigger than your sisters. 2.5 years. It is very common to have around a 2 to 2.5 year gap between babies. Not something I guess you want to think about yet though. Lovely for the cousins to be close together in age.

Had a brilliant afternoon at the hospital - they are really pleased with how I'm managing my diabetes (I am on medication but not the highest possible dose yet - they expect this to increase over the next few weeks as the trickiest time for GD is 32-36 weeks), and at least I'm able to hold off on insulin for now :)

Scan growth was measured, and while he still has a humungous head, his weight growth has slowed right down and he is only measuring a couple of days ahead now (his head is still measuring over 2 weeks ahead but I think he is just going to have a big head regardless of the GD....oh the joys!)
They have said they are so pleased with my progress that they might look at an induction closer to my due date rather than 2/3 weeks early :D I might not be pleased about that when I'm about to drop and wishing he would just be born already but I'm pleased that I'm managing the diabetes well enough to make that a possibility.

ES we are planning at least a 2.5 year gap, we just couldn't afford 2 in nursery at the amount we will be paying, not until the free hours kicks in anyway so that is definitely a consideration for us. It'll be lovely that my nieces and donut will all be close in age, I can't wait to see them together

Abba, he has no idea, we've got a stock of nappies and he asked if they were for donut and both my nieces. He was very shocked when I told him to expect 10 nappy changes a day at first :rotfl:

Anyway, onto financial stuff being as this is a debt free diary :o

Made an OP of £25 to the NZ CC this morning, it's going down nicely. I'm still hoping to pay it monthly from the savings until August when the 0% runs out, allowing me to accrue interest in the savings account rather than paying it off immediately. It will only be pennies, but it's better than nothing :D

Have challenged myself to get the mortgage under £159k before the birth so I'm going to be on PA as much as possible - I need to make OPs totalling £309 between now and mid-March for that to happen...asking a lot of myself but I'd rather try and stretch myself now while I have a higher income and put it towards something to secure our future. If I don't make it, I will still have made a dent which will help in the long run :D

My FD regular saver matures end of May/beginning of June and I think the interest will be going into donuts account for anything we need that is unexpected at the moment.... I'd rather keep the EF as exactly that, and extra nappies/wipes/calpol etc will come out of the things for donut account (separate from his money obviously)

I've also been reading edinburghers diary and am intrigued at their use of CB to build a savings pot for their daughter - that won't work for us as a whole as the CB is earmarked for things like formula if necessary, however I would like to look at putting part of it aside for him when he is older. I'll need to have a look at budgets but I'd like to think we could keep a chunk of it for him. Will report back after he is here for this one, I don't think I can accurately sort a budget until I know whether I can breastfeed or whether formula will be needed as that will make a massive difference.
It will stay in my savings account either way, as if we have more than 1 child I would want to split it equally between them.

Anyway, I've got a list as long as my arm and my break is over so back to the grindstone! xx

Glad you're ok - ignore the eejits!! Really doesn't seem like they will take the hint though - perhaps blocking is the way forward! :)

    I can't believe it's February - I am having a baby next month

Mortgage has come out this morning but isn't showing on Natwest as cleared yet so I won't update the mortgage spreadsheet yet, quite annoying! Water bill seems to have reduced by about £3 this month too, not entirely sure why though. Will investigate over the weekend as I haven't had any emails or letters. Not complaining about paying less and we are quite careful with water but I like to know these things in advance!

Still haven't had or paid a gas bill for 14 months either  I'm getting more and more annoyed about this and British Gas have been useless!! I've sent a final email on Tuesday and if I get no response, I'm going to OfGem - something needs to happen to get this sorted.

I really want to start putting more structure in my posts, but I get so carried away that I end up writing essays :o

Not planning any OPs today, but our entertainment budget resets next week and we have a little bit left in there so may well transfer that out for a little OP at some point over the weekend :)

Hope everyone is set for a lovely weekend - I am being abandoned for Waitangi day in London by OH tomorrow - my idea of fun at the moment does not include large crowds of drunk people but he is desperate to go and he is meeting up with one or 2 of his kiwi friends so it'll be nice for him. I will be washing 0-3 clothes ready to go in the wardrobe now that the nursery is finished. And trying to find a place for all the nappies that have accumulated in the nursery thanks to my bulk buying :o xx

  • No gas bill for 14 months!!!! That is going to be huge when it comes. Can you swap suppliers? I bet you British Gas will then raise a bill.

It's been a nightmare ES, and it's ongoing. Having posted this morning I decided enough was enough and put my complaint in with the energy ombudsman so hopefully they can help.

Basically British Gas refused to accept that I had a gas supply at the property, even though they are supplying it. Turns out Persimmon and British Gas had registered the address as the site address (plot number and old street name instead of house number and new street name). British Gas were then supposed to amend this on the national database so the switch I did in October could be actioned but OVO were unable to take over the gas supply as British Gas have still not changed the supply address - we can't be billed as our house address doesn't match the meter but they are still supplying.

They are yet to confirm that the backdated supply (from Dec 16 to Oct 17) will be charged under the fixed tariff we were on at the time as as far as they are concerned that account was electricity only (despite it being a dual tariff that we ported from old house to new) and so they would like to charge it as standard tariff and no one will do anything about it - I have spoken to 14 people on the phone and had over 20 emails regarding all this and all that happens is I get promised a phone call which never materialises

  • Goodness how frustrating. I feel for you. Definitely the energy ombardsman must be next I guess. Is it just you or is it your neighbours too?
