I'm baaaaaaaack!!
Shattered and showing a bit more, despite only putting 1kg of the 7 I lost before I left. No idea how I managed that given that I have taken real advantage of my improved sickness and eaten whatever I fancied at that time. Lots of hot fudge sundaes mostly so it seems weird that between that and the growing bump, I don't seem to be gaining weight. I don't look like that though - I feel huge! Sickness hasn't gone away completely but I am much improved from before.
Trip was mostly nice but with some tense moments, mainly because OHs parents are complete opposite to mine - they say they are excited but seemed annoyed everytime I talked about the baby :mad:and were most put out that I had already veto'd OHs family name. I'm not budging though!
They were more accepting of the surname decision though, very little was said when I told them we would be using a double barrelled surname which was much better than expected.
I also met OHs sister for the first time, which was nice but a bit weird - we've been together over 4 years, bought two houses and are expecting a baby but I'd never met his sister.
We had a scan whilst we were there - the idea was that OHs parents could come and feel more involved but they weren't comfortable with it in the end so waited outside then we called my parents so they could find out at the same time that we are having a...... BOY!
Had a bit of a blow out with OH after his parents said they would come and stay with us next June (along with his sister and Aunt, while I'm trying to deal with a newborn ) and while I do 2 half days at work in July for an assessment my mom was going to bring donut into our lunch area so he is close by and I could still nip in to feed when needed. I explained this to the in laws and they said while they are here they would like to spend as much time with him as possible....all fine so far. FIL then said while I'm working they can take donut to Newcastle (as in a 4 hour drive away) to visit family  I said absolutely not and OH didn't say a word. I broached it with him later and asked him to stand up for what I say to them. He said I was over reacting and if I wouldn't let them go to Newcastle, it wouldn't hurt if they took him out for a day to Birmingham. an hour away. It sounds silly but I already know I won't be comfortable with that when he is 8-10 weeks old!! If I have to come across as ridiculous and overbearing, I will. Not bothered by it at all but I do want some back up. We had a long chat a few days later once I had calmed down and he agreed to be on my side. We will see when the time comes!
I spent a lot of time napping and we didn't get to see some of the people we had planned. I felt bad but I wasn't 100% still after the sickness (still am not really, I'm still sick everyday it's just not as regularly as before)
V8s were actually quite fun (although I'm downplaying that to OH as it cost a fortune and won't be on the to do list again anytime soon) but I was still shattered. I have spent so much time napping over the last 3 weeks that I'm not sure how I'm going to cope at work next week
We stuck to our budget even after my £100 splashout on baby boy clothes. We knew that was going to happen though, whichever way the gender went
My parents have been slightly over excited and bought us the pram while we were away. It was lovely of them but I would have liked to be there to buy it. That's ridiculous isn't it? They bought the one I chose, in the colour I wanted, I'm just a bit miffed that they didn't tell me they were doing it and dropped it on us when we landed yesterday. Hormones making me crazy again I'm sure...
Hope everyone is ok anywayxx

Welcome back!! Hope you had a lovely lovely time and it’s great to hear you feel better!! Also congratulations on having a boy!! Boys are awesome fun!!
The antics of your parents and in laws made me laugh and reminded me of similar stories when I was pregnant with my two. All now forgotten. Once the baby is here it will be better. Just focus on looking after yourself and take all the naps you need.
Looking forward to seeing you smash that debt!!

Congratulations on the blue bump Kirsty :j:j I have one of each so am very lucky.
I think people are always well meaning about planning and prepping when baby gets here, but the fact is that nobody knows what will happen. It's such a massive change becoming a parent - nobody can prepare you for it and nobody can say how it's going to go. With one of mine I didn't leave the house for over a week, and with the other I was up and at the shops the next day - you just can't ever tell.
Not that you need to listen to any of my advice, but I would just take one day at a time and be really flexible with your plans. Don't agree to anything, just see how you feel when it comes around. xNot giving up

Thanks Crunchy, one of my friends said yesterday that all will be forgotten when he arrives and I think she's probably right - my emotions are all over the place so I probably should have tried not to snap at themGlad to hear you had a good trip and congratulations on having a baby boy. I already know that I'm going to be protective - I am with my niece, so donut won't be any different... I just thought it would be a good idea to let them know my expectations before they come to visit, but perhaps I should have kept it zipped and just had the conversation at the time.:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

I think once he gets a bit older I won't mind so much, but my parents live an hour away and I think that's a bit far when he's so little but with OHs parents living in NZ, they aren't going to be around to know his routine so I'd be really uncomfortable with them arriving to visit then taking him away within a few days. Probably sounds ridiculous but unless I feel drastically different when he arrives, I'm going to put my foot down with all of them.
I'm sure there will be some battles!!crazy_cat_lady wrote: »Congratulations on the blue bump Kirsty :j:j I have one of each so am very lucky.

That's so true - I can only guess how I will be at the moment so I should probably let them think what they like and tackle it when I need to!:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)
