Thanks Bob, she's a little more with it today - finally taking some milk and water and her temp has come down a little bit.
Moving the train tickets was going to cost £180  and an extra hotel night plus eating/tube etc was only going to be about £5 cheaper
We have compromised by booking other tickets which were £24 and mean we don't have to have an extra night in a hotel but do still need the extra day off work. Still not the best as it's an unexpected spend but my parents came round last night and gave me birthday money which will more than cover it.
I've taken the plunge and updated the extra money for the car that had to go onto a 0% CC (had been ignoring it but that gets me nowhere so I needed to sort it out!)
We have booked a lovely treat for my birthday on Saturday - a champagne and Belgian chocolate breakfast at our hotel and a brewery tour (all budgeted and already paid) plus the money that parents gave me will be going on train tickets and a horse and carriage ride
expensive but it's been on my Bruges wishlist for years (it's quite a long wishlist
) and I probably won't go back for a long time so we are going to arrange that when we get there

Well I'm back from Bruges and I was thoroughly spoilt by the lovely OH.
We ended up in London the day after last weeks attack and I can honestly say the capital is full of inspiring people. Police everywhere, and they were all lovely and people talking to each other on the tube. Things which weren't commonplace when I lived there! It was great to see communities come together for the Trafalgar Square vigil. Such a vile act, but fab to see that the spirit of the Country was unbroken. I have, however, had to delete some racist idiots from social media following the attack. Including the biological father/sperm donor. Horrible and disgusting views that have no place in my life.
OH was quite poorly while we were away but he soldiered on and we walked about 18 miles in 3 days according to my fitness pal - no wonder I'm exhausted and my hip and ankle are killing me. Hotel was absolutely beautiful and the place was amazing, but SO expensive! We went to one place for lunch and quickly left when we saw it was 17,90Euro for a ham and cheese toastie
I didn't get to do some of the things on my wishlist purely because of how expensive everything was but I still loved it and would go again, although probably not for a while.
Before we left on thursday I was banished from the lounge and forbidden entry until we got home. OH bought me a beautiful ring for my birthday that we chose together and I thought that was my present, but I got home to a new laptop! So pleased as I'd been talking about getting one as my old one was 13 years old and kept turning itself off and then not working for a few hours but I was being stubborn and avoiding buying one.
All in all a lovely time away and I really enjoyed the time we spent together - sat in the room playing ludo of an evening and having a coffee and a belgian chocolate
It was strange to spend my birthday so far away and not see my family but we will be having some time with them at some point this week as it's my Dads birthday on Thursday:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Happy belated birthday! Glad you had a fantastic time but sounds like you need a holiday to recover! Lol! I had a new laptop a few months ago and it took me ages to get used to using it because my other one was so old and so much had changed! XMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

It's a comfort thing I think abba, I started my DF journey on the old laptop and although I'm thrilled with the new one I feel a bit sad about letting the old one go - that sounds ridiculous doesn't it?!
Thank you Jessythat is exactly the issue at the moment, its got a new fangled mouse that doesn't seem to have buttons and it's very annoying - I will grow to love it soon though!
I'm out for a meal at the local 2 for £10 with some friends tonight to celebrate my birthday
OH still quite poorly and has actually had to have today off work. He was awful during the night, kept up both awake coughing and he was shivering and sweating then heaving because he was coughing so much. Poor lamb, I did feel for him. Felt for my exhausted self too mind you :rotfl:
Managed to speak to OHs dad last night over email so got a bit more out of him that we normally get on the phone. OHs mam has started to lose her hair, which is upsetting but in NZ part of her treatment is to have a wig or hat made that she gets to choose so they went into the local town to pick that out over the weekend. She chose a hat, which I think is quite fitting for her, she's ever practical and although I'm sure it's knocked her a bit, I think hair is quite far at the back of her mind.
Friend has her scan tomorrow so I'm looking forward to seeing her scan picture:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

I couldn't believe it CCL, I almost fell off my bar stool!
