  • Hey Kirsty

I can't believe your niece is nearly 6 months old, how the time has flown.

I must admit I suffer a bit like you. I am signed off from work with anxiety at the moment, but I also have little things like you when stressed. I used to rub my fingers together a lot at stressful times and had/have other OCD routines. Mine started when I was 16 and my mum left home and it totally controlled my life for a few years. I had never heard of OCD at the time. When I did it was a relief I can tell you.

Anyway what I wanted to say was that moving is one of the most stressful things that you can do and even though you love your house and are settled, perhaps it is just the change that has brought it on. My anxiety at the moment is a lot to do with work but I also know that it has something to do with the move as well even though I can't wait to get out of here. I can't wait just to have a decent nights sleep again.

Also, congratulations on the debt figure and the new car. You are doing really well and I'm sure you will be debt free by the end of this year.

    Take care.

    Tink xx

Time is going far too fast Tink. I use timehop on my phone and it came up last month with her first scan, I almost fell off my chair when I realised I found out in Jan 16 and it's now March 17  I wish time would slow down!

I hope once you move you are feeling better Tink - anxiety is such a difficult thing because I find that most people are quite dismissive of it as a problem and say really helpful things like 'just get over it' and so on. Yep because I haven't tried that already!

I hadn't really linked the move with how I've been feeling because I saw it as such a positive, but you are right in that it's still a big change that I hadn't really factored in as part of the issue.

I'm so pleased to see you back on here, I've missed your updates :)

Still loving the new car but I haven't been completely honest....it's a very good deal but is over the budget I had set for us....by £1k!! :o
I can't believe I let that happen. I got swept up in the excitement and am so angry at myself for it.

OH says beating myself up about it won't help and it's done now so stop stressing....helpful!

I've been doing a bit of digging on autotrader/ebay etc and it looks like we negotiated a good deal for the car/age/mileage but I'm still not happy with myself - it being worth more than we paid doesn't make what we paid any less :(

It's completely knocked me off my stride. I'm forcing PADs because I know it's worth it, but I just feel a bit like I've blown it and might as well carry on.

    Must NOT!

Oh Kirsty, try not to worry too much about the car - easier said than done I know! I felt the same when we had to add to our debt for our cars recently.

We've added massively to our debt by taking out the loans for 2 new (to us) cars. It's not a nice feeling but for us in the circumstances we're in we've at least managed to get the best deals possible & loans at a much better rate than the finance being offered.

At least you got a good deal & you know you needed to get another car. It's a blow but you will accept it and move on. You're doing so well with paying off your debt & this is just one more thing - you can do it. :)

Fascinating! You have already done lots of jobs in your time. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to be a midwife.

Don't dwell on the car thing too much. It's done. Now enjoy your new wheels!

Thanks sashy, that's very true - the finance options were shocking! I couldn't believe how happy some of the other people at the garage were about what they would be paying a month - 9% interest is NOT my idea of fun!

We managed to get part of the money on a Zopa loan at 3.2% and the rest is on 0% credit cards. The zopa loan is unlimited OPs with no penalty so that made me a bit happier about taking it on.

I spent a good few years not having any idea what I wanted to do with myself Bob - I went to 2 Unis to do different courses, worked as a waitress, shop assistant, nursery nurse, healthcare purchaser, then moved into my current industry up until my current role so it took quite a while to settle :o

I've had a rubbish few days at work which I'm hoping will start to improve after a couple of very difficult meetings today with staff members who are also family of the Director and make my life at work very difficult at times. I'm making a stand and not accepting it any more. I will not be spoken to like something on the bottom of someones shoe because of who they are related to. OH says it's about time I stuck up for myself and put my foot down. I agree!

Have been doing more stuff around the house - I wanted a photo wall up the stairs but I was putting off getting it down in case I didn't like it but I started it and now I can't wait to get extra photos up there!

Looking forward to spending some nice time with OH over the weekend, and the weekly visit to my niece

Family and friends have started asking what I want for my birthday, I've been asking for euros for the Bruges trip but my sister point blank refused to buy euros as she wants to get me something I can open so I've asked for an electric heat pad - I've been after one for a while as they fold and bend in ways hot water bottles don't so will be brilliant for my tummy. I had borrowed one from a colleague for a week and it was amazing but I had to give it back and the one I want is £40+ so I've been putting it off but would be a lovely present if she can find a good discount code :)

My Grandad had some moles removed last week and one of the has come back as a basal cell carcinoma which he and my nan are trying to play down as it's slow growing and they are pretty sure they cut it all out but it's still worrying me. Especially as he is having another couple removed next week so I'm concerned about that at the moment.

Sorry to read that, I hope your grandad will be alright.

Good on you being assertive. I have also had to be lately. I always feel so full of dread and adrenaline though. But needs must.

Just another one of those things at the moment Bob. I'm not going to get in a state at the moment but it will no doubt play on my mind until the next set of results come in.

I really hope things pick up for the next few months for you Bob, but I'm sure the assertiveness will help getting payments in in the long run....it's just not fun! I agree with you - I dread it and then feel so relieved when it's over!!

We've also got a zopa loan for our windows and doors and that was the thing that won it for me that we can overpay without any penalties so this will be getting tackled next year after I've cleared the pesky credit cards xx

Hi Kirsty, hope all is well.

I was very shocked at the car finance interest rates as well. One of our original loans from selling our flat at a loss is a Zopa loan, I think it's a great idea. With our loan any overpayments are reducing the monthly repayment rather than interest as it's all added at the beginning but any overpayment is a good thing. :T
