  • Your OH seems to have come good recently Kirsty. Happy days.
So sorry to hear of the fall though - hope that you're not too stiff and sore.

Feeling very positive today (despite still being black and blue and struggling to walk. Apparently my bruises are rather impressive but I can only see half of them!)

Today is OHs last day at his old job. New job starts on Mon and he is off to Ireland for a few days and I'm dreading it - I'm a big baby about being home alone :o

I had a head hunting call last night though, company apparently really wants to see me and is willing to offer what i stated as my minimum if they want me, even though it's above their maximum :) Problem being, it is based where OH is based now. He's moving jobs to spend more time at home and with me, and I will then be the one out the house for extra hours travelling....but it is more money and 1/2 an hour less per day. I have deja vu to last May/June when I was offered the other job and had the same dilemma. Will go for a chat and see what happens. No point stressing over something I haven't been offered!

Oh bless you Kirsty, so sorry to hear of your fall! It's horrible that moment when you realise it's happening and can't stop yourself.

That was the worst part Bob, I could feel myself going and it seemed to take ages to actually fall!

He really does CCL. I'm very optimistic at the moment. We are getting along so well, and he is like a changed man.
Still doing relate counselling and will continue to do so for the time being, but it's going really well :)

Thanks all - I had a second fall on Saturday afternoon :o (the joys of a new build estate with unfinished kerbs :() and have done some pretty magnificent ankle damage - can't walk on it, have been icing it for 3 days, had a compression bandage on and been taking painkillers and anti inflammatories and the bruising, pain and swelling is terrible. So much so that after a consultation with my GP I will be heading to A&E for X rays. At least my thigh feels better in comparison :rotfl:

Spent some time with the niece last night. She was most unimpressed that I couldn't walk around (she likes to be walked when she goes off to sleep) but very cute all the same :)

OH very put out that I made another mortgage OP without consulting him, but I wanted it to be a zero at the end :o

Hi Kirsty :hello: first time posting here but have been lurking and just want to say very well done on all the debt busting and general life-living you've been doing.:j

Sorry to hear about your injuries, they do not sound pleasant. Hope you're feeling a bit better.

I totally get wanting balances to have a zero at the end. :o

Hi Sashybo, thanks for dropping by :hello:

This is why I love posting on here - my OH thinks I've lost the plot but you all get it!

Ankle still quite poorly. I am being stubborn and refusing to go to hospital. Doc recommended an X ray but the wait times are ridiculous and I'm quite clumsy so I have a lot of experience of sprains and I'm pretty sure it's just a bad sprain so I'm still icing and elevating it and have promised that if no better by Sunday I will go to the hospital.
The way I understand it, if it's ligament or tendon damage I should see a marked improvement by 7 days so if it's still awful I will give in, in the meantime I think it would be a waste of the hospitals time and they have better things to concentrate on.

Thanks LMSTM - That's they way I've decided to look at it. Not heard much more about the other job but the MD of the other company has been away so waiting on that.

OHs new job has come with a couple of surprises. There's no uniform so he is now in need of work trousers and shirts (unbudgeted as he didn't think to ask that at interview...) and he will be paid 4 weekly instead of monthly, so his payday will be a different day every month and he will have 13 a year rather than 12. This means we will actually be worse off monthly than at his old job , but will have one bonus month a year
I'm trying to remind myself that he is walking to work now so will save quite a bit on fuel and if we can get rid of the 2nd car we won't have to pay insurance etc (we won't get anything from the car as it is still technically my moms and it's a bit of a heap!)
He also can't get his head around why he won't be getting a full months pay from his old job when he finished there last Friday, he cannot get his head around finances AT ALL
