I WILL get there!!

I haven't been on and written in my diary for a few days but I'm still debt busting! Making my PADs and watching the totals slowly creep down.
Made a payment off my very account yesterday which I was thrilled about as it's now over 90% paid! and will (fingers crossed) be paid off in full tomorrow when OH transfers some £ to me to cover the bits and pieces he had put on my very account.
Talked to my parents and asked that they make an extra payment on the CC they have been spending on to get my total debt under £22000 - they will be making the extra payment on payday so should be £400 off the debt at some point next week. My first city break is coming up and we are flying off on Wednesday night so I'm looking forward to it but begrudging spending money even though it's budgeted for!
OH and I had quite a few discussions regarding the house situation and have had a decision in principle from London and Country for the amount the house is worth, but I know that is only based on the affordability calculator and not our individual circumstances so I'm not getting my hopes up yet. Went and saw the house again yesterday, and I still really like it - my only worry is that it might be too small for more than 2 of us (trying not to get to ahead of myself with that thought either!)
We are going to try another viewing when I get back from city break and see if we can see from the garden whether anyone else has extended their property in the street which will give us an idea for the future.
In the meantime I've decided to carry on paying my debt off which stands us in better stead for a mortgage rather than saving for solicitors fees that we may not even need to pay.
Still not getting my hopes up but feeling cautiously hopeful!

Kirsty - that is good about the decision in principle at least. It's a start isn't it. I agree keep banging away at the debts. It can all only help.
It's funny how so many people myself included when they start off worry about their credit rating when this is so unimportant compared to having no debt.

Ohhhh Kirsty everything sounds like it's coming together for you. If I don't catch up with you again this week hope you have a lovely time away. I might be too exhausted to come on after early starts again lol.
Take care.

OH transferred some money to me this morning so my very account is officially paid off!!! :j
Now to get onto the credit cards seriously. A friend of mine works in a bank and pretty much told me that the loan won't be a problem, it's the credit card debt that could be an issue so I'm not making any overpayments on the loan, it will all be thrown at the MBNA card in the first instance, and when that is eventually paid off onto the barclaycard! I feel so positive and happy at the moment, I can't really believe how much the debt busting is helping my state of mind - I know I have an awfully long way to go but I also know that I'm on the right track, and I'm quarter of the way there (and over £3000 paid off since July!)

You're doing so well Kirsty. Another jumping man lol. You need to get the house details of the house you like to always remind you not to spend. That's what I've done. The house I like will be long gone by the time I'm debt free but it's the best incentive ever.
Hope you're keeping well.

Kirsty how interesting about the perception of loan vs credit cards to a lender. I've never heard that before I have to say. Did your friend explain any further?" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Hi Tink! I've printed the details off and they are on my noticeboard, and saved to my phone! Good plan, it will help I think.
I'm not 100% sure Bob, but I think it's to do with the possibility of the amount of debt/ monthly repayments to a loan being fixed, but to a CC it could go up or down. I'll ask her tomorrow and see if she can give me a bit more info!:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Paid £50.00 off the vanquis card this morning (although it's not technically my debt and the parents are paying it back, it has such a huge interest rate that it's no good for either of us - I'm paying extra on top of their monthly payments and keeping a record of how much I've paid which they will give me back in 18 months when my dads pension lump sum arrives - I'm yet to get them into the debt busting scheme of things):j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

So today is a busy day!
Doing another viewing on the house tonight and then got a meeting with the mortgage advisor, not to mention I go away tomorrow and haven't even packed yet. Luckily we are only taking hand luggage or I'd be in a total panic - I never leave things this late but the house seems to have taken over my every thought!
My overall debt is now officially under £22000 :j still so far to go, but so far I've come.
Warning, going to get a bit of an emotional mess now! I just can't believe what a difference it makes to have people who are virtually strangers be so encouraging (probably more so than close friends) and I know I would struggle to do this if it wasn't for feeling like I'd be letting down everyone who reads/comments on my diary as well as myself and my family to be.
So while I'm in a contemplative mood before this house malarkey gets underway, thanks all :j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Awww Kirsty - I know just what you mean. This site is amazing for the support it brings. No wonder so many of us were in bits during the maintaince work the other weekend!
Have a wonderful break & come back up for the challenge!
