Not everyone drinks alcohol at parties!

I would have thought a note on the windscreen

"Please be aware this is a private driveway, not a communal one, therefore please refrain from parking your car here. Thank you"

Would be a good starting point.

Like the other replies I would leave a polite note please dont park here as its a private drive..That may be the easiest solution..if they ignore it and still park there I would be tempted to go to the pound shop get a pack of superglue and next time stick another note on the windscreen..along the lines of second warning dont park here I have told you already..

A length of chain and a padlock cost me 20 quid when so cheekh scrote started parking in my private spot. Added security at night too.

Was going to suggest exactly this.

You may have to add a couple of wooden posts if you don't have them already, but cost is still going to be low and will add a little security beyond this immediate problem - any burglars will have to carry their loot to the road rather than driving up and parking in front of your door.

I'd probably start by leaving a note on the windscreen.

If that didn't work I'd shift it using a trolley jack, leave it in the middle of the road (literally) and call the police to inform them a car is blocking the street. If you don't have a jack you could potentially cut the handbrake cable instead.

Just be aware the police, council or DVLA won't do a thing so don't bother trying there.

Or just try sticking the nails under the tyres as suggested and they're unlikely to park there again. If anything were to happen (person knocking at your door, police, etc) just say you were doing some DIY outside and must have missed some.

The last thing I'd be doing is letting it carry on.

If you do leave a note, don't leave it open to interpretation.

"Don't park, private driveway" can translate to "Oh, that's OK I'm visiting people who live here, so they just don't realise that"

"Don't park, private driveway for Number XX only" can't be translated as anything other than that.

Yes, because direct action resulting in criminal damage is a good way to get the police on your side, and / or to encourage the driver of the car to do the same to your car(s).

    Brilliant! Well thought through!

You could maybe block both ends of your drive with wheelie bins - we have two of those not sure about your area though.

Not a huge deterrent as they can move them fairly easily but might do the trick.

Not much else you can do without resorting to breaking the law yourself, or spending money and effort.

How is a chain 'added security'? A burglar is hardly going to come break in through your locked door or smash a closed window in order to rob you just to change their mind when they see a weist height chain they can step over
