Free Pc To Mobile Texts - No Reg Required

I posted this earlier on the freebies board, but just in case anyone has not seen it yet I am posting it in here as well, I hope that`s okay.
I have just found this site and have checked it myself and it does work. It is so simple to use that even I have managed to send a text within 10 seconds of finding it.

I think you misunderstood me, I did not explain very well, I agree with you you do not have to connect to recieve a SMS only a Vyke to Vyke SMS. Otherwise just the normal SMS network is used to recieve. :p

No, I did understand, I think it's me that didn't explain very well :D

When someone sends an SMS to me using Vyke, I can receive the message without connecting, by preventing Vyke from connecting. The message still appears in my Vyke inbox without needing to connect. When I receive a standard SMS, Vyke is not involved at all and it goes into my ordinary inbox as expected.

This is just what happens in my phone, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for everyone else?

  • Ok so I can't find where to download Vyke mobile from the website...

Do you have to buy credit from them before you can download the software or start sending texts?

  • I have just received my monthly bill from orange and whilst i was on holiday in Spain using Vyke and SMS Bug to send texts (approximately 40) I rang up a DATA bill of 38p + VAT (44.65 p) and the texts cost me 2 cents each therefore total costs less than £1 :D

If I had used the normal Orange service I would have paid £12 !!

    So :D :T :D

    :)

Do you know how much data charges are when you are abroad?

It costs ALOT more to access web pages than in the UK typically £8 per megabyte.

By the time you have navigated to the web pages I think the costs will be high, also you have your phone address book available in Vyke with the usual predictive text etc.

I'm in a bit of a muddle and rather Vyked off at the moment!

I have a Motorola V3 on Virgin payg - I thought this would support Vyke Pro but have only managed to download Vyke Lite successfully.

I've managed to send a text but in 'getting to know' the way it all works and just attempting to do things in Vyke I keep being charged by Virgin. I've sent one text, but as you can see below just opening Vyke keeps costing me money from Virgin.

Why are there two charges for the same time period and what am I doing wrong?

Virgin's price set up shows a difference between GPRS and WAP, I have tried using both but to find out my Vyke balance I get charged 1p by Virgin using either of them.

Does anyone know what phone settings I should use, or is it something I should amend in Vyke?? Has anyone used Vyke Pro with a V3?
