I have spent waaaay too much out of August,s money, nearly half of my budget. £135.00 !!!!!

On top of the normal shop I bought -
    2 kg minced beef
    4 kg boned chicken thighs
    2 kg sausages
    6 pork chops
4 lumps of Ald! Belly Pork
All split up into portions, vacuum packed and stowed in the freezer.

Also 2 x 86 dishwasher tabs ( was bogof) which will last months
1 kg Coffee beans (my little vice)
2 bottles of wine and a bottle of Gin as we are 'entertaining' at the weekend.

This leaves me with just over £40 a week in this GC - I'll have to bake for England to fill up the teen dustbin.......
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130

I'm back in again for August with £250. Any over will go into Christmas savings.

Went over by £13 this month but did buy all the meat needed for August so should be easily doable.

    My month runs from tomorrow.

Awesome start for me. Saw in Martin's email you could get champagne for £4.16 a bottle from Sainsburys if you bought 6 bottles and used a discount code. I thought this would be good to keep for when we go to other people's houses and have to take a bottle of something for the host.

So we ordered £25 worth of groceries and £45 worth of champagne and used a £20 off code. Champagne out of stock (as well as a couple of other things) but they still honoured the £20 discount code so we got 10 boneless chicken thighs, hot chocolate, milk, butter, frozen king prawns, cream, ribena, 2 lots of cat litter, 3 packs of egg noodles plus a couple of other things for £2.95!!!

    Hello!

Please can you put me down for £100 again this month?

We went meat shopping last night and spent £60 on meat (for the freezer) and some bits from the August and September budget, so I have £70 remaining for this month and £70 for next month...

I've spent way over half my budget already too - but the Costc0 shop items actually span most of the month so I'm hoping it will work out ok. I did have to get honey and maple syrup which were costly but will last close to a year. That's the frustrating thing about bulk buying!!

Anyway I only spent $35 on groceries for the week which is a definite saving on usual, but I'll probably need to pick up some fresh fruit and veggies on Sunday. Eek.

Still, I'm hopeful I can do this!!

My first weekly shop of the challenge done and the husband was off so he came too! In budget at £65.58. Pleased with that as needed a lot of toiletries as well. And we have family coming round for tea tonight which is usually a costly affair.

  • Hi all, complete newbie here. Can I join in? I only have a rough idea what we spend on groceries every month, I do know that we are wasting too much of what we buy. We really need to cut back and do some better planning. It's time to get it under some kind of control. I will try for £300 starting tomorrow. That's for myself, OH, two kids and one cat.

Can I join again too please, with a budget of £400 for August. :)

I will have to try a lot harder as I overspent by quite a lot in July.

Have managed to use a few stock items up and hope to keep this going in August.
Good luck everyone and keep those purses shut as much as possible.
