HI
New to this thread and have monitored what we've spent this month (two adults in our house). So hoping to do £100 this month for all food, drink and cleaning etc. Our month runs 30th to 30th but we are away for a bit so hoping to get it in at under the £100.0 -
Could I join for August please? £500 as it is summer holidays and my first challenge.0

Please could you put me down for £250 for august 2015.
Thank you0 -
Hi all!
I used to do this challenge for a couple of years but fell away a year or so ago (though I continued to keep track of grocery spending myself).
We've recently moved into our dream house so money is a bit tighter than before with the mortgage and increased bills. I'm also 22 weeks pregnant, expecting our first baby (a little boy) at the end of November.
My current budget is £120 for food, £15 for toiletries/cleaning etc and £15 for food and litter for our cat. This is for me and my husband and will eventually be revised to include nappies etc, but hopefully for now I can stick to it. Not sure if I can reduce it as our original budget about three years ago was £300+ a month and after a lot of reduction, it's been static for around 18 months.
Anyway, to recap, a total budget of £150 a month for August. I'll be doing the calendar month so will start in a few days.
Looking forward to getting back into the GC saddlePart time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Hi everyone!
This will be our first grocery challenge starting on 1st August. Last month we spent £437 for me, OH and 2DDs which has got to stop!
Would love to get this down to £250 but want to do it slow and steady, so this month will go for a budget of £380 which is roughly £76 a week for all groceries and toiletries for the 5 week month! Should be doable for a first month.
Wish me luck!£1589.94 cc - DFD 31/12/22; £156,737.24 mortgage free target date 1/10/2026; £158,327.18 Total; Starting debt Jan 2019 £393,068; 60% cleared.0 -
Ooooooo an August thread, we've done quite well with July's budget. I think were £4ish in the green, so thats a plus plus
and we still have our £80 is Tesco stamps (now £81
)
This month we're on the same budget of £275, fingers crossed we can save more this month!! This is for us two and the dog!Nessy x0 -
Hi all,
Trying to sort life out in a major way in order to pay off a debt or two and then to save for a mortgage deposit. Not sure how much we spend on shopping but I know it is too much!
Think I will go for £50 a week for August just to see how we go. This will cover 2 adults, 3 children, 3 cats, 2 resident dogs and any foster dogs that come to us (one just left and none due) That said I already have a great stock of cat food and dog food as well as a hefty stock of toiletries and cleaning products. The children are on school holidays but middle child is away for 10 days with grandparents then back for 2 days and off for another 5 days on holiday camp. Smallest child doesn't break up until tomorrow.
Month will start a little early with a meal plan to be done today and a weekly A*di shop to be done tomorrow. Anything saved will go to savings account and a decission made on what to pay/save from there.
Can't wait to get to know you all xxAug Comp Wins - :j

We have a budget of £300 as opposed to £450 this month as we are away 6-19 August. DH spent over £40 this weekend when I was away. Only got ingredients for two meals - one of which wasn't needed as he went to ILs yesterday with the children. I just went to Ts and got a weeks shopping plus adhoc items (DW salt, washing up sponges, wax strips for DD) and only spent £68, which I thought was pretty good. Sometimes I can leave there having spent more and feeling like I hardly got anything - anyone else feel like that sometimes?
Meal plan this week:
Monday - spaghetti bolognaise
Tuesday - baked lemon/pepper salmon, jacket pots, veg
Wednesday - sweet and sour pork with noodles
Thursday - SW Mexican chicken
Friday - sausages, mash and veg
Saturday - Roast gammon, veg
Sunday - chicken thighs - still deciding on recipe.
Have a good evening all
