I'd like to join for August too please. I 'think' we spend about £220/250 a month for 2 adults. That covers all food, toiletries and cleaning items.

I would like to aim for £200 for August to see how I go.

Hi, I'd like to give this a go please :)

Having taken on a big mortgage, we've recently started meal planning and tracking our spending on YNAB. We're aiming for £100/week on food and household stuff (incl nappies etc for baby). Plus £50/week alcohol (I know it's a lot - OH gets through it and that's a whole other story :P).

So £600/mth target for 2 adults and 2 kids. We're doing well this month. If we can maintain this level for a couple of months, we'll get a bit more adventurous and cut it further :)

    Hi all x

Please can I join in too?

Haven't a clue what we spend on food/toiletries/pet food :o so I will have a guess. There is me, OH, DS2 (16), DD (11), Mr Mac the bearded collie and sometimes DS1 (18) but he works away a lot. So if I say £450 for the month that sounds realistic for my first month.

Evening all and a warm welcome to all the new peoples :hello:

Thank you Zippy and Coxy for the new thread and, although I'm struggling a bit I am going to stick with my £200 for the month for August and try a bit harder.

It has been difficult with DH doing the shopping, as he isn't so penny-inching as I am but as he's been so good doing it I haven't said anything :rotfl:

However, the physio is helping loads and so I should be back in charge fully by August.

I am still in July until the end so I'll 'see' you all laters.

Hope you all enjoying the 'summer' and good luck with the challenge.

Signing in for another month at £253.10 please

And another attempt at staying below £200, though I'm going to be realistic and lift my target for max spends in shops from £105 to £150.

Could be a real challenge for August (especially the secondary targets) as OH and I are away for a week with my 2 eldest GDs (very fussy eaters) and his niece (tries everything and turns her nose up at very little) and I've not allowed anything extra in the budget for feeding extra mouths. However, I already have enough ready meals in the freezer for DS1 to survive on whilst we're away, so that will balance some of it out ;)

It's also looking more and more likely that my chicken fillet stock-up at Costc0 won't be done until I'm in my August budget either  (Main reason for raising my spends in shops target.)

    Hi!
I'm budgeting £150 for August please!
Already received a muscle food order and the chicken from that 'should' last me all month so I'll take off £25 as we've already eaten the burgers and SFC breasts :)
    £125 left for August
    I'm C, Mummy to DS 29/11/2010 and DD 02/11/2013

    Hello,

Could I please join the thread for August? The thread was recommended to me by a fellow MSE'r as we need to save some money on food.

Could I set a budget of £250 for me, OH and DD (2)?

    Thanks :)
