I do not think the OP will ever except that they are in the wrong blaming Hermes or the couriers that the goods did not arrive when expected and cannot understand that not all the couriers that deliver for the company are the same. Some people IMO just want to blame and the first name that comes up will be in the line of fire. For that reason I will not respond to this poster re this thread and let them believe what they choose.

And just maybe she didn't hear the courier at the door if she was busy decorating? For the third time, if you really want to know who is at fault then contact Hermes CS. You can do it via FB, Twitter or give them a call. You seem intent on blaming the company/courier without being in possession of the full facts.

I wonder how many times you've returned a package or parcel to the sorting office when the customer has actually been at home all along but either didn't hear you knock or couldn't get to the door in time. At least the Courier re-attempted delivery twice more at their own expense which is something RM don't do!

Well we dont live in a mansion, nor was there any card left. However I can see it is my own fault.
I should simply have driven to the depot. expecting it to come to the house was simply asking too much.
What facts do I need? It was in the 'local' depot. It shows delivery attempted when it wasnt.
I dont think we have the same definition of attempting a delivery.

As expected? You mean when the Hermes tracking showed it was out for delivery?

No. It wasn't at the local depot, it was with the courier. And no, you can't collect from Hermes depot, hence why the courier has to make three delivery attempts before returning to sender, all at their own expense. They only get paid for ONE attempt! Would YOU risk reducing your payment to just 33% (15p in many cases) if historically that there was no one home during the week and you needed to obtain a signature? Or would you do the sensible thing and deliver at the weekend instead and receive the full amount?

The facts you seem unwilling to obtain are whether a delivery was actually attempted or whether the courier simply carried forward whilst sat at home having a coffee and completing end of day tasks. Until then you can't apportion blame to anyone.

I'm not sure where this ambiguity on whether the delivery happened or not.
    Someone was home.
Our front garden is 6ft from the road. We have a cast iron gate where you can hear it being opened before they even get to the door.
We have a working bell & a nice sprung letterbox. Both can be heard throughout the house.
    There were no cards left.
The house hasn't been unoccupied all week.
We have had multiple deliveries this week (given my OH is off)
You seem determined to find some way that I am at fault here.
I paid, provided a delivery address. Hermes were the chosen carrier for that item by the supplier.
So Hermes are responsible for how that operation happens.

Ok, my last comment on this. If you contact Hermes CS they will verify the facts and if the courier did fail to attempt actual delivery then they will be dealt with. You should have done this BEFORE whinging about it on a public forum. You haven't even given Hermes an opportunity to address the problem yet here you are publicly slating them!

Sorry I should do what? FYI I contacted Hermes on Twitter,I got a response to DM them.
@custardy Good afternoon, I am sorry to hear this. Please drop us a DM with the delivery name and address so we....
    2 days later,no reply.
No doubt this is my fault too.

This is the vent forum. I already know the facts. How the delivery attempts didnt happen doesnt matter. They simply didnt happen.
Hermes CS has failed to contact me as well.
You seem very defensive over a factual post on a forum.

As the recipient, you couldn't contact Hermes's customer services anyway, that would be down to the sender. The sender is Hermes's custmer, not you.
