Its irrelevant whether you think its worth it or not, its whether your ex director does and whether he is happy ultimately.Polarbeary wrote: »My ex Director works around 60 hours a week plus he works on his laptop at the weekend. He's had a heart attack and has limited family time but earns around £200k a year. Worth it? I think not but he has a mortgage and 2 kids to educate.
At the end of the day, we are ALL replaceable though. Your company doesn't care about you and we are all just fodder. It's probably easier to put up with the extra 5 minutes a day then be marked as a trouble maker. What a world!Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. A cat can look at the queen.
This guy was really not happy. Wife was threatening to divorce, stress, he had been in hospital. Yeah, sounds like he is DEAD happy.0

If I was OP I would just chill in the locker room on your phone until 2-5 mins before then clock in and go on the floor. When I worked part time at Primark I always clocked in as I was about to go on the floor & out as I was just about to go upstairs so I was paid for the time.
The comments complaining about work ethic are just tools. They're being employeed and paid to work specific hours, they're not charity cases.
At Primark I would never work for free but they still viewed me as hard working hence I always got any OT I wanted.
The only reason I do "unpaid" evening work etc now is because it provides time off in lieu so means I can leave at 2pm on a Friday or something. The people saying they're happy to do 30 mins/day unpaid (presumably without TOIL) etc probably struggle to justify their level of pay for their contracted hours or are happy because of their current salary & don't think they could make higher that easily (so don't want the risk of redundancy)Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0
 Cashback sites: £900 | £30k in 2016: £30,300 (101%)0

I think it's cheeky. If someone has a management job then i can understand it, but your typical low paid wage slave shouldn't have to get in early.
Before i started self employment i worked in a pretty low paid boring job, but the benefits of it were that you could turn up 10 seconds before time and it wouldn't matter.
Although i did sometimes stay late for free to finish off when we were busy but that was more because i didn't want the overtime people to struggle to get done in time. I wasn't trying to impress management, they were all dicks and they knew i thought they were which is why they hated me, i had the last laugh though.0

We are all just numbers to employers, I wouldn't worry too much about being loyal to them. Go to work, do a good job, go home again.0

I used to work in a specialist laboratory where one had to be suited, booted and ready to work by 07:00 every morning.
Not bowling through the door at 06:59 but on the laboratory floor.
I used to have to show up at 06:45 to prepare and get through all the barriers. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0

We have something similar to bradford scoring apparently not just for sick days, but on the time of arrival to work in the first instance
"do a good job" is so subjective. Not even the highest scored customer surveys save people these days, there is so much to it0
