I think I'd write back and say that with a 4 year old and a 2 year old you are most certainly the type of customer they should be encouraging. The implication in their response that this was some kind of fly-parking event is both incorrect as well as insulting.

Clearly they have access to the landowner and they should be pressing them that their imposition of a predatory parking company is clearly going to cost Smyths customers, because for sure, if they're not prepared to help you (with your potential, with 2 youngsters, to put lots of business their way), then you will never darken their doors again and you will be reminding all your young Mum friends of their attitude.

You could also tell them that you will be more than happy to record their clear lack of customer focus, via their fob-off attitude, on their Facebook and Twitter pages. Now they'd better get off their fat backsides and show some willingness to help before you fire up your keyboard.

And you could pen similar snotograms to any of the other retailers on site who send you equally unhelpful responses. The PPC may well have got rid of the fly-parkers, but the only source of income then remaining is from genuine customers.

Retailers need to wake up and smell the [STRIKE]sh|t[/STRIKE] coffee!

Waamo is correct in your soft appeal from the registered keeper enclose copies (only) of your till receipts stating 'the driver' was a genuine shopper on the day.

The E-mail to Savills should also show copies of the receipts.

You can state that until receiving the PCN the driver was completely unaware of any parking restrictions on the site and feel that a free period of 3 hours was totally inadequate to have a meal and visit a number of retail outlets on this site.

You should also say that you expect a cancellation of this parking charge notice from Savills forthwith.

Either. They are the companies I actually made purchases with so I think they were my best bet.

    1. You can use a paid for service, but the process is quite simple, with the copy and paste template, then using one of the dozens of POPLA appeal examples, slightly adjusted to your case, with our help and guidance - and all for FREE!

Surely greater satisfaction in beating them yourself, then you have the experience to do this again if necessary, or to be able to help family or friends should one if them (almost inevitably these days) pick up their own private parking charge notice).

    2. You need to contact the landowners. A simple search on Google will yield lists of information, like this one I've just done for you.

Wouldn't bother as with a little e-mail work you can do it for free and learn a lot along the way. The choice is your of course but I have to say yours, given what we know now, should be a fairly simple winning appeal.

Have you tried the contacts in post #17?
One of the issues with multiple retail outlet retail parks is that the stores are just tenants, people who live in residential areas where a management company brings in a PPC can have a bit of effort getting rid of the PPC,/the management company and so on.
Retail park tenants, or the store managers are even more remote.
The Parking chaos will ensue reply is also pretty standard.
Try the contacts in post #17, and if they play hardball, tell them that you will consider charging them for your time/expenses as a result of their agents actions.
    From the Plain Language Commission:

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"
  • And I'd certainly be taking my purchases back to Smyths for a refund. They don't deserve anybody's business if that is their attitude to their customers.
