Just considering using this service to lock in the GBP/USD rate for a USA holiday in May. It's currently 1.39 which isn't too clever but I can't see it getting any better between now and then. Unless anyone knows something I don't?0

In the USA I rarely used cash at all. So US$700 in cash may be more than adequate.
If your wont is to lock in the best possible rate now, open an account. Don't be a sheep.
I dont consider myself a sheep.
My trips are always to Vegas where invariably I spend much more than $700 in casinos so still not sure this is the best option for me, but will still consider it0 -

So you are chucking your money away anyway. Stop wasting my time.
Don't casinos allow you to withdraw over the counter? Have never entered one, so have no idea.
Seems you'll need a few different cards if you are a big spender.0 -
My son got the Redoubt card and is currently using it in Australia. The Redoubt card has a fair use policy which means you can draw out £500 at ATM's per month then it charges at 2% per transaction till the next month. Card purchases are not charged. Hope this help0

This charge > £500 is a bit of a bummer. After having an issue with my card delivery I used it in Tenerife with no problems for a week.
I'm going to Portugal in August for a fortnight where ill spend over £500.
I suppose the charges were inevitable, there was no way they could sustain it on interchange fees alone..0 -

Stop wasting your time? They aren't making you be here - or even initiated contact with you. (Or does the smiley mean this is some kind of inside-joke?)
No you don't, you just need one adequate card. I can take out as much cash as I want fee free with several cards I own.
What is your obsession with the Revolut card? You're often bizarrely aggressive at recommending it to people - which was fine when it used to be either the best or equal best, but now it's not is rather unnecessary.0 -

As Jonwillyeggbag points out, you can spend as much as you like (up to £30,000 p/a), it's only ATM withdrawals that are limited to £500 per month fee-free.
Apart from the occasional user shrieking "HELP... SCAM... AVOID" whom we then usually hear no more from because everything was resolved, it still seems to work well in general and be better value than the alternatives. Recruitment of additional CS staff is probably their most important focus.
Does anyone know if USD debit cards really cost the merchant/payee 3%? Is it perhaps only US bank cards?Evolution, not revolution0 -
it would be a good idea if revolut could appoint a rep who could assist on this forum0

Have you some kind of mental aberration?
First of all, photome wanted an option wherein he could lock-in the US$ rate now, in case of further deterioration. Do you have a better option?
Inside joke? It is as clear as day....if photome is going to a casino...chances are he is going to be chucking his money away anyway, so why worry about it.
After the obvious joke....I suggested that he might avoid this if he were able to withdraw over the counter.
As to my recommendation of Revolut in this case, I refer you to the words in bold.
How does humble pie taste exactly?
Next time, read the OP before making yourself look silly.0
