  • Hello, can anyone help me, I am having an absolute nightmare with this card. I used it no problems last year and was planning to use it again on this trip. However all day I have been trying to top it up but it kept getting declined and the money wasnt coming out of my bank account or ending up on the revolut card. I talked to my bank provider and thought the problem was solved but it still wouldnt let me top up and to make it worse I just checked my bank account and over £800 that I have been trying to top up has come out of my bank account but is still not on the card. I have contacted their support in app and emailed them but have received nothing at all back! This is literally a joke!!! I am seriouslt concerned this is some kind of scam and I am going to have lost £800 :( I am abroad and this is very stressful and difficult for me to sort out. Beware of using this company!!

And revolut is still at 38.76
It will not move until Monday. Rates in general are flat over the weekend.

The green Superrich exchange is supposedly better than the other colours. I use Vasu, Suk.9

Presumably you are using a normal bank debit card to top up? Maestro and prepaid are no longer accepted.

What did your 'bank provider' say the problem was, and what was their solution (if any)?

You can try logging out of your Revolut (in 'profile') and back in again, to see if the top ups appear. You will need your registered phone switched on to receive the code by SMS. Any previous chats will disappear (but nothing else).

You need(ed) to contact Revolut about this, by phone if necessary. +44 (0)203 322 8352 Mon-Fri 8am-10pm London time.

Sunday there is only in-app chat, I suggest you try to get in first at 12:00 GMT with a simple message: "Hello" > "My top ups failed, money taken from my bank" > "Please check". If there's no response within ten minutes or so, continue trying to get their attention: "Hello? Please see above". As soon as someone gets to you they will be able to see all your failed top up attempts, and go from there.

If your debit card is not already verified, look in your bank statement for the 4-digit code on a previous top up payment (eg. Revolut *1234*) and have it ready.

EDIT: Now I remember someone had a similar problem, said to be something to do with the Revolut AVS upgrade (address verification system). The money had to be refunded to their bank account.

Don't worry, you won't lose the money. Let us know how it goes...

yes, is the billing address of the card you try to use to top up revolut the same as the address in your revolut profile?

Just seen this on the pre-paid travelcard guide pages of the MSE Forum - of interest I think!
"Just be aware that Revolut have now sneaked in some charges under the guise of a fair usage policy, haven't bothered to inform existing customers and have obviously reneged on their previous "no fees for the first 12 months" guarantee ... I've done a copy/paste of their fair usage policy below, and have noticed that a couple of bits, which I've put in italic, have been added in the last few days it seems to clarify things.

    Fair Usage Policy:

ATM usage is FREE for up to £500 / €650 / $700 (or equivalent) a month, after which there will be a 2% fee applied to further ATM withdrawals until the end of the month. For example, if you withdrew £550 in one month, this would only cost you £1. We have to pass on these costs as Revolut doesn't own the ATMs...yet!

If you are approaching your ATM withdrawal limit, don't worry, you can still spend as much as you want on your Revolut card instead, as this policy ONLY applies to ATM withdrawals

    USD Debit Card Top-Ups

Supporting debit card top-ups in USD is expensive for us. We are working to bring these costs down. Until then, we have to pass on our costs, which are 3% per USD top-up. In this case it might be cheaper for you to top up via bank transfer.

Don't forget though...spending, sending and exchanging in USD is completely FREE

    Illiquid Currencies

For most currencies we provide you with the interbank rate...Awesome! However there are some illiquid currencies such as Thai Baht and Russian Ruble which are difficult for us to trade. For these currencies we will give you the best rate we can. You can check all these rates within the app. "

I'm the one who posted that in the prepaid cards discussion thread at it seemed some people weren't aware of the changes so nothing new for people who'd been following the Revolut-specific thread ;)

Thanks Yolina - for the many who never seem to trawl through the threads for information it is really handy to have your condensed all in one place update!

What's really needed is for MSE to amend their prepaid travel cards guide accordingly though, at the moment it still says no fees...

  • My husband and I got Resolut cards for our trip to Vietnam. We checked the PINs were working prior to leaving the UK. My husband has worked ok so far but mine just won't work. It keeps being rejected due to the PIN when trying to pay for stuff. I tried contacting Resolut via the in app support but it wouldn't send.

After 2 days I finally got a message to send. It took quite some time and persistence but finally got a reply - use in ATM, ask for balance, won't be supported, take out small amount. Hooray. It worked though the ATM cost me £1.50 to withdraw £10. Next time I went to use the card - rejected. Another marathon to get a response. Told PIN now re-set and to repeat ATM process. Rejected. I've tried so many times now! I have been constantly messaging and emailing Resolut for nearly 3 days with no response!!!!! And now I find on this thread that if we continue to just use my husbands card he will be charged for going over £500. So much for fee free. If I phone Resolut it is going to cost a fortune.

I WOUKD HIGHLT RECOMMEND PEOPLE AVOID THIS CARD AS IT US SOOOOO UNRELIABLE AND T&Cs FICKLE!! GO WITH SOMETHING MIRE TRIED AND TESTED. FOR A FEW EXTRA £s IT'S WORTH THE PIECE OF MIND.

It sounds like you have a rare duff card/PIN. Don't waste more time and money phoning etc, forget it and sort it out when you get home. Use any backup you have that gives good rates and doesn't charge 2% for ATM withdrawal, rather than your husband's Revolut.
