Could they not have an annual limit on free withdrawals (12 * £500 ~ £6000) instead of monthly. The maximum cost to them would be the same, but I doubt anyone would quibble with £6k as a fair use limit.

Well, what would be the point of introducing fees in such a way that everybody can avoid them...

I don't understand your point, they have already introduced fees in a way that everybody can avoid.

The difference between purchases and cash withdrawals is that they get a part of the fee that's charged to retailers for card transactions. They don't get anything for cash withdrawals, in fact that probably costs them.

However, that's not our problem and it doesn't excuse the outright lie about no fee for 12 months. They simply aren't delivering what we signed up for.

  • I am very interested in this card.
But it doesn't seem to offer interbank rates in Thai baht...

At this moment the interbank rate - website Bank of Thailand - for Euro to THB is 39,1644 (sight bills) or 39,2735 (transfer).
The transfer rate I get from my Kasikorn Bank (Telex Transfer) is 39,2945.

On the Revolut app I see a rate of 38,7690.

And my moneychanger down the street gives me 39,60 for a 100 euro bill!
That is 2% better than Revolut.

Exchange rate comparisons need to be made at the same moment in time. I doubt that a money changer gave Bt39.60 to the euro since Wednesday. The BoT rates you quote are for buying euros, not interbank rates.

But you are right, Revolut is no longer so useful in Thailand due to their new 'fair usage policy', as discussed in recent posts.

  • eDicky, I am right here in Thailand.
This morning the rate was 39,60. At this moment it is 39,50 with another money changer.
    Revolut is still at 38,76.

I'm also in Thailand - not using my Revolut.

Mid rate at 7pm is 39.7858, flat for the weekend, so it's back up late today. Still 39.60 for €100 bills this morning would have been decent enough, who's your money changer?

Revolut rates are worse on the weekend. Forget about them for Thai baht, stick to cash big bills or look at TransferWise to send to your Kasikorn account.
