jeremy2012 wrote: »Hi, a quick question as I just ordered the card.
loading wise... how does it work. Do l load some pound there and when withdrawing or paying with the card, then it pick up the current exchange rate.
Or can I load now in Thai Bhat already or in Euro as the current exchange rate for Euro is very good today.
Cheers,
You load the card in either £ Sterling. Euro or US dollars - according to where your home bank account is. Remember that until your account is verified there is a limit on the amount you can transfer.
You can then choose to either keep it in that currency on your card or change it into either of the other two 'home' currencies.
When you make a purchase in Thai Baht, the theory is you will get the best rate available (better than normal cards) when you make that purchase.
At the moment the card only has those three base currencies.0 -
Just a quick question as signed up today, we are travelling to Kuala Lumper and Bali - we can use the card there. The currencies are listed and I am assuming the our GBP will be converted at the exchange rate of the day?
Thank you0 -

I signed up for the card today. Like many others I've paid £10 to have my card posted next day delivery. So I should have it tomorrow so we shall see. In theory this is about the best thing to ever happen to those of us who go abroad often or even occasionally.
I'm travelling to NY in the States soon but am mindful of issues purchasing subway tickets! Is this still an issue? Not a big deal but trying to do my homework. :-)
I see a lot of talk about cards being blocked. Are the Revolut cards the ones being blocked or the debit cards that are being used to top them up? I plan to call my bank to see if there's a way of making them aware that I will be using my account to top up my Revolut card so that they don't see it as fraud. The last thing anyone needs is to be left high and dry abroad. One thing that remains unclear to me is whether I am going to be sent an "emergency" card tomorrow or my proper card (which includes my name if I'm not mistaken?) Would both cards have the same PIN?
I've been chatting to support all day or trying to! I'm having an issue with my verification which has to be manually checked apparently. It said that this can take up to 15 minutes. That was 4 hours ago. Chat have ignored the 2 or 3 messages that I've sent them about it so I've sent an email off to the support address so will see how that goes.
I forgot to enter the MSE code for the £5 bonus and have been told that there's no way of retrospectively adding that which is disappointing, especially after reading that others were able to get this sorted. My fault for forgetting the code of course.
Where can I find a list of ATM providers in America that don't charge fees? Most ATMs over there do charge fees which I appreciate is out of Revolut's control but again, as part the homework doing process I thought I'd try and find out where I can go to avoid all fees. I have mentally noted TD.0 -

Where are these "many others" who have paid £10? Certainly not within this thread. Are you making it up?
As to worries about top ups, you can do a bank transfer if there is a problem with the card that you utilise for topping up.
High and Dry? You should have a back up in any case.

No I'm not making it up. What an odd, if not rude thing to ask someone after their first post. Especially after reading this whole thread and seeing several people (as I said) who have asked for an emergency card. At least one or two of which have stated here that they paid the tenner for next day delivery. Others have said they got the card rushed out to them without specifying that they paid a tenner but I don't imagine that Revolut are rushing out some cards for free and others for a tenner? Correct me if I'm wrong.
As I said above I've read the whole thread and am therefore fully aware of the bank transfer option but I have also read about delays with funds being transferred. Even if this is an intermittent problem I'd rather have an option that works instantly all of the time. And after a quick call to my bank last night I think I have that. I tried to transfer my holiday cash for next week to my Revolut card from my debit card. It was blocked by my bank (again, as others in this thread have experienced (not making it up)) so I called them and they were very helpful. The guy got me to try it again whilst I was still on the phone to him and it went through in a second. He assured me that it will go through if I need to transfer funds again so as far as I'm concerned that's sorted. He was quite quick to get defensive about the funds being blocked but I told him I completely understand and appreciate that these measures are in place to protect my money. I was quite happy to make the call (that I had anticipated having to make anyway after reading this thread) to get it sorted. That was absolutely fine and of course out of Revolut's control.
Now I await my card and I assume I'll be all set.As my new friend NiftyDigits has correctly pointed out a back up option is a good idea and it's already in place.
Knowing of one ATM provider that won't charge me is great but if there are others I'd like to know about them as this will increase my chances of saving some money as I have no idea how common TD ATMs are in NYC so if it's all the same to my new friend I'm still going to see if I can find a list. If I find one I'll happily post it up.
I appreciate your reply, NiftyDigits. I dare say you encounter many idiots on this forum? But please do not speak to me as I am one of them and we'll get along just fine.
Thanks again.

You won't find a list. TD will do you just fine in New York. But if it will help, you'll likely find that you'll do better using non-US banks. Toronto Dominion being one of them.
I found that you can pay for everything at POS, so cash is rarely needed. I'll usually just take a single withdrawal on a trip to NY and then pay for everything using the card. Using the cash for small tips and towards the end of the trip.
I like my new friend. Made me smile.
Have to admit that I had no idea that Revolut were charging for the emergency cards. That promo code would certainly have made it less painful.
What card do you have as a back-up solution?
You can also experiment with PNC bank ATMs. They might be found in 'convenience stores'.
Last resort, withdraw over the counter. Useful if you forget your PIN.0 -

I did ask support which card I'd receive but they didn't answer that question. It's worth pointing out that generally they've been good. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as I did ask them many questions.0

I have been using Revolut for many months and find it brilliant. I have now however almost reached £1500 and been asked to verify my ID. Can anyone help with how to do this please. I have been round and round without success. I have the photos they need but how to get them to them just doesn't seem to work. I can find no way of doing this on their site or in the App although it says verify in 30 seconds!! Any help gracefully received. Thanks.0
