I think Minea is right, I have seen it written somewhere. It's to be expected, probably at their discretion what would be considered a large transaction or series of transactions. The most I have done is a $3000 load from a debit card and conversion to GBP, seems no problem. There are no limits to topping up and and transferring money with Revolut however we require proof of funds to process large transactions.
Thrown slightly as they mentioned 1000€....which of course needs no POF other than already supplied.0 -
Im going to Spain in early December and I plan to use my Revolut card there, does anyone know which banks in Spain do not charge ATM withdrawals?

It is absolutely brilliant! So easy to operate via the excellent mobile app. Excellent exchange rate and very very clear transaction records. Used it in France and Italy this year and it was seamless. I've recommended the card to friends and they've been delighted! Can't fault it. The other big plus - often overlooked - is that you can transfer money off the card back to your bank account or use the card in the UK for cash withdrawals or purchases at absolutely no cost! Can't find another card that is free literally anywhere in the world you use it. Usually using these cards at home comes with a cost.0

I used this card for 3 weeks whilst travelling around Vietnam and Cambodia. I can happily say i had no issues with the card or transferring money via the app. I could easily take money out from ATM machines and using it in shops/restaurants.
To err on the side of caution, I had my boyfriend test his card out in France before our holiday but everything worked correctly. :T
The only part my boyfriend and I both struggled with was getting our ID verified as the photo recognition was not working, so we had to email customer service directly. But i think that was just teething problems as it was a brand new app and we both received our cards within 5 days (live in London).
Will definitely be using Revolut again as it's very simple, fast to use and the rates favourable compared to other card providers.0 -
So does your emergency card feature your name, Simon?
I am also pleased with their performance in general, it's a brilliant product developed and run by a talented multi-ethnic team in the Canada House tech hub, without using some outsourced call centre.
It does not, no. I asked support a couple of days ago if I'd get another card with my name on it and they said "Only if I ordered another one through the app". Which I can't see any way to do? Unless they mean request it via the in-app support. But Since I had no major problems with my card (details below) I don't see the need to order another one.
I'm back from my trip to the US. The card was absolutely brilliant. It worked 100% of the time. I used TD ATMs (there are plenty of them) and wasn't charged anything for using them. Look out for green ATMs in a green bank with a green screen! I used the card to make purchases and in restaurants. In the US when you pay by credit card (and this is a pre-paid credit card) you often are asked for ID and they match it up with the name on the card. Of course my card has no name which seemed to blow the minds of some of the cashier staff. Some accepted it and some panicked and called in management who didn't kick up a fuss. That was the only minor flaw. The rates are the best you'll get and you can withdraw cash without being charged. You can't ask for more!
I never tried the card in the automated machines to pay for metro/train tickets - I used cash for these as I'd read a couple of horror stories. But I used the card with street ticket sellers and because the app gives you a real time notification of any charges and how much they are I could immediately see that i was being charged the correct amount which brought a little peace of mind. This was actually how I knew that our hotel was charging us $375 for a deposit. They didn't tell me how much they were charging which I didn't think was right. And despite checking out on Friday I only just got that returned to the card in the last few hours! Which is a little annoying. Luckily for us we weren't relying on that money for anything else but I dare say others aren't that fortunate. When checking out I specifically asked how long it would take to be refunded and they said "24 hours usually but it depends on your card issuer."
Another issue I had (which Revolut is completely blameless for of course but this experience may help others) is with tipping. As I read in this thread they will charge your card for the initial amount and then ask you to write on the receipt how much tip you wish to leave. Then they refund your card the initial amount and charge for the full amount including tip. I don't understand why they do this. As of today I have paid twice for one particular meal we had over a week ago now. I was charged the initial amount at the time despite the waiter taking my card back to the table an informing me that he'd charged me for the suggested tip too. (every other place gave me the choice) 2 days later at roughly 3am my card was charged again by the restaurant which initially made me think my card had been copied but we quickly realised that this must have been a delayed charge for this meal we'd had. I'm still waiting for them to refund the initial charge. It's still showing as "Pending" in the Revolut app. Support advised me that it would be automatically cancelled after 10 working days. But the restaurant shouldn't be leaving that long. At no point should anyone be charged twice. That's a crap system that they must improve. What I'd been doing up to and after this point (after reading of similar issues) was paying for the check on the card and leaving the tip in the form of cash which removes the need for the card to be charged again. This worked fine at every other restaurant that we used.
Sorry about the lengthy post! To conclude this card gets 10/10 from me. Will definitely use in Europe and the US again soon. Pretty much flawless. I just hope that when they do start to charge in some way for using this card (and they must have to sooner rather than later you'd think?) that it's a reasonable cost.0 -

Thanks. But I don't have that option. Maybe it only shows when you block your card.0

It's a great product and I use it regularly.
One issue: the rates on weekends are not market rates. There's a ~1% spread. Now I realize that FX trading is sparse on weekends. But this money-making strategy is not disclosed on their site.0 -

From my experience Revolut's GBP/EUR/USD rates are always near enough spot on, but I had the distinct impression of a margin earlier this year in Indonesia. I was making a concrete test when my card was inconveniently swallowed by an ATM. Recently in Singapore I had a suspicion but was too busy to make a test. I am not sure if weekends were involved.
In fairness we need to have some concrete examples with figures to present, before making accusations that Revolut's claim of always using current interbank rates is not true.Evolution, not revolution0
