Nationwide - Refer a Friend

Ah, I see, so it's just for the complete switch then not just to open an account? Have I got it now?0

I'm just wondering whether it could be argued that any previous RAF switches were under a previous offer and it starts afresh for new referrals on or after 12th February (i.e. from now on you can only receive 1 RAF payment for being recommended).
Also the terms only say the recommended friend can only receive one payment for being recommended - they don't say anything about the referrer!
Is this just more sloppy terms from Nationwide?0 -
Reading those new terms it looks like we were lucky to get in before they changed and joint accounts now only generate one payment.
Joint accounts only qualify for one payment per account switched to us. This means if the recommended friend switches a joint account to us only one payment of the offer amount will be made to you and the recommended joint account.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Yes anyone with one of Nationwides specified current accounts can refer a friend.
The referred friend has to qualify by Switching their account from another bank with at least two DD's and make it their MAIN:) account.
A MAIN account can be one you pay in £750 a month to get the travel insurance, there are a few definitions of a main account so I always say yes its my main account because it is (and isn't)!;)0 -

Thanks again! I think it's time I recommended my wife then;)0 -
Well, I've kicked off the process, daughter email bit done. The only downside is Quidco has now reduced the cashback from £75 to £35.
Pity that, but will still give it a go.
Regards,
Benny.
Just to provide an update as promised.
The transfer went through on the 29th Feb. Quidco (£35) tracked but no sign yet of the RAF cash. It should be sometime this month, I hope.

My mother referred me many weeks ago but I've only just got round to preparing to apply for my own flex direct account. How would this account get linked to the referral?
Is there some code that my mother might have received, hopefully by email? (She can't remember any).0 -

Your Mother should have received an email from Nationwide confirming that they've received her referral of you. No code is involved as she will have given NW your name, dob and email address. You give them the same information when applying for an account and NW join the dots.
The problem you may have is that you need to complete a switch within 90 days of being referred to get the reward payment. If you're getting near the cut-off point then ask your Mother to refer you again.0 -

I can't recall an option to state the referrers details when applying via Quidco. So how are the two linked up.

The two are totally separate things. You get yourself referred, wait a couple of days for Nationwide to link you with your referrer on their systems, then make the application via Quidco (or wherever).
Nationwide pay out by the 20th (usually a couple of days before in my experience) of the month following switch completion. It's possible that because your switch completed on the last day of Feb in a leap year their systems have classed it as a March switch. If you don't get your cash by the 20th of this month you'll need to call them.0
