Thanks both. I have set up the DDs, got a debit card, etc. I'm just worried about the fact it's only been open a week :-/
  • I've done switches on accounts just opened without a problem so far, speaking of various institutions.

    They want your business:)

Don't blame me if they reject you though! Leave it two weeks, two months, two years!? So many variables just go for it:)

Last week I opened a donor account in order to "switch" to Nationwide. But I've just started filling in the Nationwide application form and it asks what date I opened the account I am switching from  Do I need to wait a while before I apply to switch?

I switched into Nationwide using a donor account only just opened and all went smoothly with Recommend A Friend payment received. That said, when I did it (about 2 months ago) the application process did not ask me to fill in what date I opened the donor account, just asked for the account details and debit card number. So maybe they have added this question into their application process recently?

It asks how long you have held a current account elsewhere, not necessarily meaning the donor account.

From trying an application here, it asks if you have an account elsewhere and when that was opened - it then asks if that if you want to switch the account you just gave the date for, or a different one. It doesn't seem particularly logical to me...

I don't know if its best to give the date details of the 'donor' account, or give date details of a main account and then say you want to switch a different account. Or if it matters at all.

When applying for a Nationwide current account as a new customer you have to say how long you have held your existing account elsewhere. This is part of their credit check.

When applying to switch to an existing Nationwide current account you do not need to say how long you have had the account you're switching.

The confusion/quandary seems to arise when you apply to open and switch at the same time.

If you think they won't like you switching a newly opened donor account, just separate the applications, open the NW account first, then switch later.

I have been through most of this thread and am still unsure of what I may be entitled to. I am about to embark on a joint current A/C transfer from HSBC to Nationwide. Our daughter (different address) has been a long standing NW A/C holder so we should be able to split the £200.
I have a Quidco a/c and my question is, will I qualify for their £75 offer, or will one be refused.

    Thanks.

Hi Benny, my recent Quidco hasn't 'tracked'. So it's a case of making a claim within (I think) seven weeks and risk de-stabilising my RAF with N/W., or..... leave it.

So is there a risk of loosing my part (£100) or indeed all of the RAF if I go down the Quidco route? Some earlier posts suggest that both have been honoured.
Not sure which would take precedence in terms of playouts.

    Regards,
    Benny.

There's no problem at all with doing both Quidco and RAF as they are mutually exclusive to one another.
Mutually exclusive means cannot both occur. So presumably you mean that they are not mutually exclusive?
