Congrats Jackie, I would write a letter to complain, its unacceptable they kept your money for so long.
Can't believe people are still so upset an not getting a cheap harddrive0 -
My interest in the matter is I'm constantly amazed that everytime there is a misprice the amount of people who come on here spouting on about legal action and then say something like "I would sue them but I havent got the time" and then go on to egg other people on to do it for them, to all those that want to sue, do it! and then when you've won come and make us mockers eat humble pie, but if you get nowhere at least be big enough to come on here and say you were wrong, but that wont happen what will is no one will get anywhere and it will go quiet until the next misprice I've seen it all before and will see it again and again and again.
you seem to have a lot of time to comment on something that you have no interest in.0 -

Olympus E-1 Digital SLR - £98.70 (Apple Education Store)
Argos misprice! 28inch TV outfit, £0.49
.......and the saga continued here
widescreen TVs for 49p!!!!!
that's three for now, and this thread makes four....
even more searching in this forum will bring up more...
damn and blast i thought you might have been able to help ...a current £700 camera for less than a £100 would be deemed by a court as an obvious misprice ...ditto 49 pence televisions .
to keep you up to speed we are talking about an older hard drive at about half price . ...quite feasible as lots of retailers sell stuff off at half price.
thanks anyway0 -

Dell's "mistake" seems to be costing it nothing. An empty apology, delays in refunding people and no other action to say, "sorry, guys. Hands up - our fault - here have this sweetener to restore your faith"
Your comment on "professional moaners" is personally offensive. I work in a service industry and I meet all sorts of people. Some are harder to please than others and some won't moan until you can do nothing about the problem. You can't please everybody all of the time. HOWEVER, when we make a mistake, we do everything we can to rectify it ASAP and provide an appology that's appropraite to the mistake. In this way, we have learned to make fewer and fewer mistakes.
It would seem that the larger an organisation becomes, the less interested it is in customer service and I suspect that it's expotential. This is plain wrong and people should not let them get away with it.
If you disagree with that, you're part of the problem.
So I take it that in every mistake you have made has cost you in your profession? because that is your argument.and I find your attitude personally offensive.0 -

Can you please stop repeating this nonsense....clearly people have a view on this thread that is different to yours, but it is never the less valid.
but the same people keep coming on here telling us how it annoys them the way we are acting in trying to resolve this with dell. why bother reading and commenting on this thread if they 'know' the outcome ? i'll make it easy ...i'm touched that you're all worried about us wasting our time but don't ...use your fountain of knowledge to advise people on other threads who might be remotely interested in what you've got to say.
if anyone is successful in challenging dell over this issue i would keep it to yourself .
Really not in the spirit of MSE...?
no it's not, but i'm pretty sure that if anyone put a successful method of how they resolved this with dell onto here that the same people who have been spouting the c**p about it being a waste of time etc would be the first to fire the exact same method back at dell
i feel quite positive at the moment that i'm getting somewhere.
5 minutes per email to dell is hardly taking chunks out of my free time
New sentence, capital letter....it's called a mistake....you make them, Dell make them....we all make them....doesn't mean there has to be compensation.
If you are successful it will probably because you will have bored some poor soul at Dell rigid! I'm thinking of having a 'whip round' for you....how much are you looking for & why?
well if that's a successful strategy i'm up for it .....i'll accept your generous offer ...2 iomega 250gb hard drives are all that i require0 -

Your repeating yourself so I suggest if you havent got anything further to say you concentrate on suing Dell instead of just posting about doing it.0 -

read through all the threads instead of just skimming them and you will find plenty of misprices if you cant be bothered them that's up to you.0 -

i have to admit that you've sussed my lack of time on this one ....i really don't have time to go through a whole website forum to try and find helpful info that possibly doesn't exist.
for clarity ask yourself before supplying examples of 'misprices' do they resemble the case we are talking about ie
1. it's a major retailer
2. who advertise/offer a product cheaply but not at a totally unrealistic price.
3. people submit the application to purchase
4. the company accept the offer to purchase
5. send confirmation via email with 2 conflicting sets of terms and conditions
6. take payment from peoples accounts (not held payments or pending)
7. send further emails advising of new delivery dates
8. eventually email most people advising of an error days after the event.
9. still have hold of peoples money0 -
i didn't have time to look through the other sites so thought i'd look at this site and find if anyone had a success with an obvious misprice. i found this
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=537078
i must admit one mse member went a bit far by having a heated argument with the manager ,even though by law everyone knows they don't have to sell you the item when they realise a mistake has been made providing they don't accept payment for it.
who posted the following?
"I went to my local store and there were around 10 on the shelf took 2 to the till and was just about to pay for them when the manager came up and said they were mispriced and I couldnt buy them after a heated few minutes arguing with him I left the store with nothing went to my next local and bought the last 2 on the shelf with no problem."
good old showman arguing the t**s about a misprice ....a misprice the store didn't have to honour0
