Misprice found
Misprice posted
People pile in
Misprice closes
People say that they hope the one they ordered arrives
People say that they hope the fifty they ordered to resell on ebay will arrive
People get cross that someone ordered 50, and they didn't think of it/ get chance to order 50
People get confirmations
Some call the company to see if they'll send them at this price
They get shouted at for calling the company
People cross fingers
Some get cancelled
Most get cancelled
Everyone picks apart the T&C
People talk about legal action
rest get cancelled
People get refunds about a week after promised
People talk about legal action
People (like me) come and mock
Everyone gets defensive and say that it's different this time, as they've broken the law/T&C/customer trust
You'd be much better chewing the nut, rather than just the shell.... it's much more tasty.
thanks for your contribution ...any chance of pointing me in the direction of all these other 'misprices' that have relevance to this thread. it may help the case0 -

My interest in the matter is I'm constantly amazed that everytime there is a misprice the amount of people who come on here spouting on about legal action and then say something like "I would sue them but I havent got the time" and then go on to egg other people on to do it for them, to all those that want to sue, do it! and then when you've won come and make us mockers eat humble pie, but if you get nowhere at least be big enough to come on here and say you were wrong, but that wont happen what will is no one will get anywhere and it will go quiet until the next misprice I've seen it all before and will see it again and again and again.0 -

Off the top of my head there were :
A camera from Apple
Quite a few tv's from Dixon's
A tv from Homebase
many many misprices from Amazon
quite a few misprices from HMV concerning preorder dvd's and a load of Star trek dvd's
a mispriced satnav from Ebuyer (that incidently I got)
the list goes on forever..........
just about every commercial website has had them some have been honoured by the site most like the Dell one have not. NONE have been taken to court and won by the buyer who has been let down.
On the subject of the people who are now saying "I'm disgusted with Dell and will never deal with them again" I say one thing "wait until the next Dell misprice" you will all chance your arms again and your principals will go straight out the window.0 -

that's three for now, and this thread makes four....
even more searching in this forum will bring up more...0 -

Can you please stop repeating this nonsense....clearly people have a view on this thread that is different to yours, but it is never the less valid.
if anyone is successful in challenging dell over this issue i would keep it to yourself .
Really not in the spirit of MSE...?
i feel quite positive at the moment that i'm getting somewhere.
5 minutes per email to dell is hardly taking chunks out of my free time
New sentence, capital letter....it's called a mistake....you make them, Dell make them....we all make them....doesn't mean there has to be compensation.
If you are successful it will probably because you will have bored some poor soul at Dell rigid! I'm thinking of having a 'whip round' for you....how much are you looking for & why?0 -
you arent being shafted it was a mistake thats all, I'm sure there are people out there with too much time on their hands we get them all the time in my work we call them "professional moaners" usually but not always 45-65 years old, semi or fully retired who want something to keep themselves occupied. these people will complain about anything and everything.
Mistakes cost. FULL STOP. If you make a mistake pulling out of a junction into the path of a car, someone might get hurt. If Tesco overcharges you, it's a mistake (we assume), but at least Tesco is big enough to compensate you at the CS desk.
Dell's "mistake" seems to be costing it nothing. An empty apology, delays in refunding people and no other action to say, "sorry, guys. Hands up - our fault - here have this sweetener to restore your faith"
Your comment on "professional moaners" is personally offensive. I work in a service industry and I meet all sorts of people. Some are harder to please than others and some won't moan until you can do nothing about the problem. You can't please everybody all of the time. HOWEVER, when we make a mistake, we do everything we can to rectify it ASAP and provide an appology that's appropraite to the mistake. In this way, we have learned to make fewer and fewer mistakes.
It would seem that the larger an organisation becomes, the less interested it is in customer service and I suspect that it's expotential. This is plain wrong and people should not let them get away with it.
If you disagree with that, you're part of the problem.0 -
Well done Dell. The money was back in my account this morning, and it only took a fortnight. Case closed (for me anyway
