Anyone who is a regular on this forum should know that people who have to scrabble to earn a living are scum. If you don't have a shed load of cash and have to rely on finding great deals to make a living then you are obviously not the sort of person that most MSErs want to mix with. In short, you are TRADE, and therefore to be avoided at all costs.
To make it easy in future can the sort of person who will actually gain as a result of finding a bargain on MSE please get stuffed, and leave the deals for those of us to whom it will make absolutely no financial difference whatsoever.
    Cheers :)

If you were Prime Minister would you bring back communism immediately or give it a couple of weeks?

Who has obviously ordered 50 to sell them on to make money out of them, cause they can't be arsed to get a proper job and pay taxes like everyone else.
I’d like to ask a question. Did anyone declare that their order was for BUSINESS use? It was available in the Small Business section, and even when you buy through the Home section you can declare that your purchase is for business use, as US legislation requires Dell Inc to ask you.

I’m wondering if Dell are going to fulfil those orders. For a business customer, when Dell’s T&Cs say that the Order Confirmation makes “a binding Agreement”, they really do mean there’s absolutely no escape. As a home buyer, the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations give you plenty of time to change your mind. As a business buyer, if you turned ’round to Dell and said, “my employee ordered the wrong parts”, Dell will most likely say, “tough.”

So, strange as it may seem, those people that put in orders for 50 of the things, as business buyers, have the most right to feel aggrieved if they don’t get them. If they’d been the ones making the “error”, rather than Dell, they’d be stuck with 50 units of stock they didn’t want and have no way of returning them to Dell.

There is no difference between an internal HDD and an external one. An external (portable) HDD is simply an internal drive in an enclosure.

The price Dell advertised is a very competitive price and totally plausable, as already explained in other posts.

Did it occur to anyone that those posts saying '...I bought 50 to sell on ebay...' were just people fishing for abusive replies? Well, it seems to have worked.

Even if they were true, so what? I don't like it either, but is getting abusive in an internet forum going to change anything? Will they immediately admit the error of their ways and return them? Didn't think so. So why bother getting worked up so much you have to vent your anger by writing abusive posts? Then again, it's amazing how confident, indeed aggressive, people are when it comes to the internet.

I keep coming back to this thread because I find it interesting and can't wait to see what happens next. I want updates from the other people in the same position as me. I'm also attempting to keep those people up to date with how things are proceeding with my communications with Dell. But it's becoming increasingly difficult as I have to trawl through all the posts from people that have contributed nothing other than to abuse other posters, e.g being called scum, and tell us we're all wasting our time. It's my time, I'll waste it if I want. If you're so worried about wasting time, why do you spend so much of it coming back to this thread?

I thought this forum had rules about abuse and personal comments/attacks on other users? Does calling people scum not count?

It may just be a drive in an enclosure, but an external one has much slower speeds due to them using USB/Firewire. Also you can hot swap an external drive (Although its not a good idea to do this constantly.)

Personally I don't trust Iomega ext. hard drives after my 400GB one, stopped working after about 1 week. I managed to get some data back before it completely died, but still lost a bit.
  • As a small business buyer - I have registered a compliant with Dell today and have an email saying I will get a call tomorrow. Hopefully, they'll have something useful to say.

Ignoring the troll posts (my 2,000,000 arrived this morning with a pair of glamour models as a bonus from Dell - they are now on ebay) I will say that I'm a tad surprised at Dell's Tardiness in letting me know they've cancelled my order.

I have an order confirmation and a revised delivery date but no cancellation email yet.

*shrugs* I won't be getting one but they could have been a bit more on the ball.
  • guys got my 14 drives this morning.
