Does anyone know if it is possible to use 18185 as an overide provider for line rental provided by Sky?

Yes it is. I use it for all my calls as Sky call charges are high.

If the cost of your calls to numbers starting 01, 02, 03, 071-075 and 077-079 via the 18185 service exceed £2 per week, it will be cheaper to use Sky's Anytime inclusive call plan for these calls.

You must be using the alternative numbers not 18185 indirectly then
  • Bit of a thread revival, but does anyone know if 18185.co.uk has gone down? Been unable to access it for about a week now. Haven't changed line supplier from BT.

Can't find anything on the net about it and there does not seem to be a status check facility on their website. There is no "contact us" option and an email to service@18185.co.uk bounced.

I have been using them for many years and been very happy with the service & low cost.

I've just tried - working fine for me. Have you tried using them on 0808 1 703 703?

Working as normal for me too. Perhaps sign in and check that your telephone numbers are still connected to the service.

I switched to a VoIP provider when 18185 put call charges up last year.

Since then spending is about a sixth of what it was before, now heading for about £5 a year instead of about £30

The main phone is a cordless extension and base unit which does both landline and VoIP calls, bought secondhand 3 or 4 years ago for about £30. Some mobiles can also use VoIP, and I have some free calls there.

Anyone still using an Orchid dialler? Have one at the office but just got a huge bill from BT business showing 0345 calls at 20p a minute. Checked the 18185 bill and seem to be double charged for same calls?
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

Had to laugh at the originator of this thread's user name, bearing in mind he was asking about cheap telephone calls . Is his middle name Graham?
