Easyjet Tricks - guide discussion

  • Hi,

I did just try your "Beat the school hols price hike with the 'book the wrong date' trick" - but actually in its terms and conditions it does say that any "additional" price difference will be added to your ticket price but any discounted price will not be refunded!!! So I think this solution no longer works?!?!?

That 'trick' refers specifically to the Flexi fare, rather than the standard fare.

With easyJet Flexi fares you can change your flight an unlimited number of times without extra cost to a flight at a different time within a window of -1 week and +3 weeks of the original flight booking (though the change can only be made 24 hours after the booking).

In the early days of Flexi fares this trick could often reap rewards, but I think it's less likely now for two reasons...

    (1) Flexi fares were initially set at lower prices to attract interest in and awareness of them, and...
    (2) easyJet have had a number of years of experience with Flexi fares as part of their fares structure, and so they've likely tweaked their pricing strategies so that this trick no longer works so well.

easyJet's Flexi fares are covered in section 9.2 of their terms and conditions.

  • I think the tips are really helpful thanks. I have another question though. If you claim a voucher from Easyjet because the cost of a flight goes down, can you do it again (on the same flight) if it goes down again? Thanks

I would be interested in this too. I have just called to get a voucher on my flight and wasn't given the full amount of the difference. I was told that it was due to taxes etc. But I haven't been given a breakdown of the refund, so I have no way of checking it.

Simple answer is no, easyJet customer service told me this.
Mortgage Balance May 25- £9975. Planning to be paid off by Dec 25🎄
  • Booked flights for May half term 2017 Southend to Faro on the day they were released, 6 Oct. Got 2 adults and 2 kids for £676. Later in the day they got above £1600. Today 2 Nov they are £1165.
I got a steer that they started to become available at 6am, signed on at 6.15, but the route I wanted didn't become available until 6.40, just had to keep trying.
  • Hi, Like the tio about packing for carry on with no weight restrictions.. I find that the rollable vacuum pack bags are great for this. 6 shirts will fold neatly in then compress to half of their size... they stay neat as well! This means that the small bag takes a huge amount of clothes.
I also find that arriving at the gate later than most gets the bag checked into the hold easier so i don't have to hump it on board.
  • Booking on First Day of ticket release worked well for my mate and I when we were looking for flights to Euros 2016 in Paris.

Despite the obvious demand for tickets we got 2 return tickets to CDG Paris for £75 each.

These tickets more than doubled in cost in the following weeks as demand increased.
  • Tried three times within ten minutes early this morning using an iPad to book tickets for next summer. Each time there was a 'something happened' error "ej2 exception" when trying to log in to pay. I changed my password before the 3rd attempt just to make sure that wasn't the problem. And the number of available seats at the price reduced on each attempt.

Then I tried the same on a PC and though the price had gone up by £4 compared with the failed bookings, this time it worked, saving over £100 for travel on the same days of the same weeks as last year's holiday.

    Result!
  • At about 8.30am today I used the Travel Republic to book Easyjet flights, hotel and a transfer for around £1200 cheaper than Thomson Holidays wanted. Just checked again on TR about 1pm and they have gone up by £327 already.
