The tips on packing video was good, I am pretty experienced at doing 10-12 day trips with a small cabin bag plus a backpack (usually with BA). These are not trips to sunny climates and well-equipped hotels, but I manage! I was surprised that vacuum bags were not mentioned anywhere - they have to be the ROLL UP ones (obviously we are not packing a vaccum cleaner!) and they are brilliant for thicker clothes and 8 days of socks and for the dirty laundry on the way home. My other top tip is that I bring small amount of creams, like spot cream or steroid cream, in contact lens cases, marked with a Sharpie pen. It's amazing the variety of things you can get in a liquids bag and if you can find one that suits you, a solid deodorant can free up space in that liquids bag.
Finally, with a complicated multi country trip coming up, BA cancelled a flight and we had to go into a storm of baggage concerns. It's going to be slightly cheaper for me to store a bag in Gatwick for 5 days than pay to take it on EasyJet, the only airline that could take me to Turkey after the BA cancellation. Madness!0 -
Booked flights to Inverness for New Year at 6.30am, £29.99 from Bristol and £48.89 return each for myself and hubbie. Quite pleased! Thanks for the heads up0

Not sure if this has been mentioned already on here, but Amazon now have lots of “stuffable” neck pillows; just unzip and fill with rolled-up clothes. You can fit a surprising amount inside. I found one for £5.68 plus delivery.
