This IS NOT fixed, there's a much bigger issue which you won't read about here because the members in question have had their IPs banned which prevents them from posting on MSE.

I was banned, and I only managed to get back on by resetting my router.

    So was toniq.

--> Ip banned for posting a normal comp

Maybe people should post on that thread and email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com as this should not be happening.

Looks like it's an automatic set up that bans IPs. Problem being is an IP can contain various users. Take BT for example, their IPs can have 100+ users on the same IP. So if MSE's new spam spotter spots one spammer on that IP rather than banning the user it's banning the IP, which means 99 innocent users are also being banned from posting. Not very clever. Wouldn't it be better if an IP was flagged as potential spam then that most trusted of computers (the human brain) can look at it and make a decision to ban the IP (if it is single use) or ban an individual (if it's a multi use IP)? At the moment, from what I can tell is, you risk being banned if you post a link/url if your IP just happens to be a shared IP with someone who has spammed MSE.

Not just that, but I have a feeling - from what I have observed, not been told - that some of the prevention measures are triggered by the thread content that is trying to be posted. There can be some odd formatting etc on some competition posts that perhaps an over sensitive detection and auto IP ban is picking up?

I'm having to use 4g on my ipad to comp, totally messed my comping up as my folders are all on my laptop.

I've been told it's been passed to techies, which will be Monday they will look at it.

I seriously would advise people not to post till it is sorted as my Ip can't be changed easily as it is static so the next person might be stuck in the same situation.

All for trying to post a comp!

Again thanks Fermi for seeing there is an issue as it felt I was trying to prove I hadn't done anything to warrant an Ip ban.

Did they give any explanation of why it had happened?

The think I got caught up in the mass auto banning of spammers recently. That was the initial assumption, nothing else said since.

I personally think something in the comp I tried to post triggered it, it was candy chaos fb 24hr giveaway, weirdly as I couldn't get it posted because of the block I won one of the hourly prizes!
