I have just had a similar problem when I clicked on a link it just took me back to the MSE page with that link on. I have just tried a link on another post and that has worked ok so it would appear only affecting some links

    Weird

.. I have just noticed it did close the MSE post had open when i clicked on the link - luckily I had the page bookmarked so I could find it again to add my Thanks

Ha, having the same issue, assumed it was a Chrome issue, spent the last hour Googling to see how to rectify it. Hopefully will be sorted soon :)

Instead of clicking on a link try right clicking on it then select 'open link in new tab' - that will keep you on MSE and open up the comp link.
That's using Firefox, IE and Chrome will have a similar if not exact phrase that will do the same.
Temp solution until whoever has broken MSE gets round to fixing it.

Is it just me? When I click on links on posts it takes me completely off MSE and I have to press the back button to get the page back up, really frustrating

yes, I've been getting that as well in chrome & IE11,
not doing it on other sites so it's a MSE glitch I think.

I think someone at MSE tinkering with the forum has managed to mess up the link posting. :(

Can get around it when posting a link by.

Click switchmode.gif to switch to source mode

    then

createlink.gif to insert a link via that button (which auto formats the BBCode)

    http://www.shortlist.com

    which works.
