We've booked for the Monday but I'm actually thinking of going on the Direct service on the Sunday and just booking a night in a hotel on the Sunday and checking in early Monday morning to the hotel that we've booked on site and get an earlier start. I've had a look at two hotels- the Val d'elysee or the magic explorer. One is £75 I think and the other was £140. The children will be four and five. I thought that the Explorers might be nice as it's got a swimming pool or the Elysee because of being near the shops and the aquarium. Does anyone have experience of these. I don't really mind which price we go for as we were going to stay in London overnight and pay £105 for a hotel there. Thanks for any advice!
the explorers is good for kids with the pool and play area
Val d'europe isn't far ( 1 train stop away from Disney) if you wanted to shop and eat there0 -
Hi we are going to euro Disney at the end of this month
cant wait!! we are staying at the Sequoia Lodge does anyone know if they have cereal at breakfast? have 1 fussy eater. I also upgraded to a Montana Room anyone else done this?
Last thing we are going for 4 days if I take say £150 per day will this be enough for food and some goodies for 3 children? Or do I need to take much more?
Many Thanks0 -
I stayed at the Sequoia Lodge in April. They had cereal, bread for toasting, petite pain, mini pain au chocolat, croissant, flavoured yoghurts, ham, other meats, cubed cheese, , fruit salads, jam, nutella. They had lots of various juice to drink, milk, tea, coffee etc (Think that's about it). I really enjoyed breakfast- my husband who likes his full English didn't.
We took £200 per day and spent it but we did buy a lot of gifts (and I mean a lot of gifts) for family at home. The biggest expense by far was the food. Two adults, two children and a two course meal at the Rainforest Cafe cost over 110 Euros!0 -

Both our boys are fussy ! We stayed in Sequoia in July and they ate yogurts ( petite flous style) for breakfast everyday - and that was all they'd eat. We brought them to McD's for fries and nuggets at about 11am? ( soo healthy) and gave them fries etc... crisps, snacks through out the day and again at buffets they ate more fries and nuggets -and brownies ! lol - for 5days!!!! Frontierland do a kind of sausage?? That they ate too and Sequoia had lasagne and sausage in their evening buffet - but thats where it ended for us .
Cereal consisted of - frosties, special k and choco flakes - no porridge or weetabix in sight lol and the bread is not like 'normal' bread - so toast was a no go.
We spent 700euro roughly and bought toys etc for the boys - we ate in Cafe Mickey, RainForest Cafe, Annettes, Sequoia, andLucky Nugget, Caseys, and the cafe oposite Caseys- Annettes was by far the nicest !!! And cheapest !
And if you little one likes toastie you get huge ones to share on main street ! And Earl of Sandwich is soooo cheap and really really lovely!
We booked Montana also - but didn't realise that htey where doing a refurb and that montana were now outside in the lodges - I requested at checkin and by phone b4 we went - and they gave us a refurbished room on the North wing of the main building which was great - room was lovely.
When we checked in they told us to return at 3pm for our room - we chanced our arm at 1.45pm and where given our room no probs and beat the queues.:T
Have a fabulous time !!!!:j0 -

I would encourage anyone who is on a budget to think about staying half-board. We paid an extra £21 per adult and £18 (I think) for our 7 year old, but in my opinion I think it was worth it. We knew in advance we weren;t going to run out of money, we had the choice of over 7 restaurants through the whole site including hotels to eat from. The best value we found was at the all you can eat buffets, my husbands eyes just lit up!!! But best of all, because we were half board we could book our table at the restaurant of our choice every night. They get very busy between 6 and 7.30pm, but as we had booked we could just skip the queue which was great.
Hotel we stayed at - Hotel Cheyenne - was a good budget hotel, but I emphasise the word budget! If we were going again I might treat ourselves and go for a three star or something. All hotels have a shuttle bus and they are pretty prompt.
We are looking to go in January and I was determined to stay on site, but looking at the prices, it was going to be the Cheyenne for us. But then I looked at the partner hotels (having originally ruled that out) and for very little extra I'm going to go for either the Dream Castle or Magic Circus. Better quality hotels, with pools, and hot breakfast (English/American). I'm not claiming to be an expert (far from) but it does seem to be a better deal from my point of view. Time will tell:D.
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
I reckon the Cheyenne is superb!..I'm just about to go on my 9th visit since 2006 and never gone anywhere apart from Santa fe and cheyenne..never ever had a problem..alway clean and perfect!..oh I can't wait!lolYou may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0 -
Is there anywhere near disney where you can camp? Thank you.0

Is there anywhere near disney where you can camp? Thank you.
Yes, there is. This is a cut and paste of a post I made over a year ago on another site where I am a DE:
Sometimes I get asked in RL about camping and caravan sites in France as most of my friends know I go every year with, usually, a trip to DLP included. I know that there has been a few questions asked about pitches, hoot ups and caravanning have been asked over the years in a number of the France forums asking about those specifically near DL, so here goes with my ideas and input remembering that we use Keycamp as our preferred holiday company
We stay at La Croix du Vieux Pont and this is the review of it here

It's around 50 – 80 minutes drive from DLP depending on which way you decide to travel and a little longer if you choose to go by bus provided by the site itself (for an extra charge). For me, and at least one of the RL friends, this site is perfect for everything. They have hook up as well so you can take your own tent or van
Another great site is Maison Laffitte. A 30 minute train ride from Paris and 45 mins from DLP, the site is older than some with fewer facilities but being so close to a beautiful French suburb you can forgive them for the basics. Reviews for this site are generally good although recently some not so good ones have appeared.

There are some wonderful little restaurants in the town, from French to Italian to Chinese with tastes to suit all. The beautiful art work of cakes and pastries is a definite site for sore eyes and hungry tummies and there is a great supermarket to. Swimming p0ool about a mile away, with good facilities the château in the town is a great place to visit for Paris and DLP. The train stops at Marne La Vallee station for DLP{ and Gare du Nord for Paris
Keycamp also have apartments in Val de Europe, a place where ruthiebabe stays and will recommend

My very own personal favourite (and yes, I love it over La Croix) though has to be here

Such a beautiful site with vans and pitches secluded form the next and far enough apart for give real privacy but close enough to speak to your neighbours. They have electric hook up and pitches with the added advantage of taking Touring Cheques. This site give easy access to DLP, Meux and is only 40km from Orly airport. You can hear the odd train running through and you are just a short walk from the station but the site has many trees that block out much of any noise from it. It is a very quiet site and would suit everyone and anybody. Especially good for parents with small children as there are so few pitches and vans there are not many cars.
Site facilities are pretty basic but there is an Intermarche in the town and restaurants as well. The on site bar/shop has freshly baked croissant and bread for breakfast

You will most likely need a ferry to get you into France so you can start your journey to your chosen site. There are a number of sites you can search for cheap ferry deals. Some of the Sunday newspapers also have deals in the back pages alongside the holidays for sale. You'll need to look hard for them though as they can be very tiny
http://www.best-ferry-deals.co.uk/ A quick check for a car tells me a return this week ( up to July 31st 2010) will cost £115 which sounds cheap to me. If you book with any of the camping companies such as Keycamp or Eurocamp (sister companies) then the ferry cost is included in the price of your holiday.
There are so many sites near to DLP and beyond that this post could be miles long but 'll leave it there with one last link for you http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/
I know it says UK but you can search France as well and there are many reviews from personal experience written by real travellers, many of whom use campsites many times per year
Hope that is of some help to those looking to stay off site and also to those who wish to use a caravan, motorhome or tent for their holiday

Another Question
Any recommendations on where to eat? I have just seen you have to book some restaurants before you go! as we are going at a busy time I got as far as booking Cafe Mickey and thats it!! any that you can eat with the characters? whens best breakfast or dinner?
Where do I book the meal vouchers and which restaurants are included in this please
many thanks0 -
Hiya Just back from disney having stayed in the santa fe, there are 5 of us so we had to have 2 rooms, rooms interconnected they were clean and bright. the park is open from 8am to 11.30pm in aug so we were hardly in there so would have been a waste having more expensive rooms.
Had breakfast in the park and in the hotel both identical, ham, cheese, rolls, crossants, pain au choc, 3 cereals, fruit and yogs plus drinks.
we took drinks and crisps and cereal bars with us and our bags were
also took searched no problems.
cafe mickey was worth every penny. the plaza gardens was also a good selection of food for most tastes, pizza nuggets, ribs pasta fish and a pudding buffet think it was £26 per head
we found it better to eat and enormous buffet breakfast a bag of crisp for lunch and a big buffet for dinner.
also every time we purchased an ice cream or coffee we got a coupon for a free drink between 3.30 and 5.30 to use in the main park.
re my early post no problem not booking eurostar car park in advance loads of space;)Be Amazing0
