    Hi everyone.

Complete newbie here. Might be asking quite alot of questions im planning a trip for my husbands 40th. To be honest i have no idea where to start, ive read loads of this thread and pages of stuff on dlrp magic. I'm still confused (doesnt take much).

Im planning on going in September for 3 nights for 2 adults and 2 kids, ive been looking to go by eurostar as it seems the easiet option but if anyone has any other ideas (we dont drive). Seen a few reasonable flights but then ive got to deal with tranfers and baggage etc so if anyone has experience of which ones best that would be a massive help.

Ive been looking at the disney hotels, would love to stay the big castle one or the new yorker but funds wont stetch that far, does any one have any reccomendations, ive been looking at Newport bay, seqouia lodge and third choice would be cheyenne. Obviously price is the biggest factor but also how far the hotel is from the park (can it be walked), the hotel in general.

Thirdly (and last for now i promise) has anyone chosen the half board option and if they did was it worth it, it does appeal paying for it in advance so we can get it out the way, its coming up as £240 for the 4 and looking at the menu its seems ok but any thoughts would be helpful

    Sorry for the ramble x

I can highly recommend the Disneyland Hotel, it is AMAZING and so convenient being at the gates of the park. Have stayed in it 3 times now and never paid full price ;) The last time we went (September time), 4 of us, 2 adults, 15 year old and 10 year old stayed for £1000.
Have also stayed in Newport Bay Club, Sequoia Lodge, Santa Fe. Wouldn't stay in Santa Fe if they paid me, it is horrible.

Quick question, do DLRP still do the birthday tea in Frontierland or is it just a tea party now?

Hi, have just been quoted for £1304 for 3 nights at Sequoia lodge going 26/5/11 for family of 5 using Eurostar with half board included and standard insurance. Can anyone plaese tell me how this quote compares to anyone elses as have never been before. Many thanks

I just booked 4 nights and 5 days for 31st May at Newport Bay including Express Lugage for £1,369.

I tried doing it separately but with the 30% off offer I couldn't get cheaper doing it all seperately.

Thank you. Will definitley look at booking them seperately. This doesn't in any way affect the help you receive with booking in your luggage or anything else if booked seperately does it? Also, when I wanted to return on a Saturday, disney said the trains dont run on this day but have heard otherwise. Any idea if this is true? Am off now to price seperately, many thanks for your help.

you can still book Disney express (the help with your luggage) if you book Eurostar separately from your Disney hotel.
I believe there is no direct train from DLP to London on a Saturday, but you can book the indirect fare (it stops at Lille).

Also there is no direct train on a Tuesday either except during UK school holidays.

I've just had a look at the blurb in the current online brochure, its just a tea party now, at the Cowboy Cookout (its moved from the Lucky Nugget), it says you can order a birthday cake in the normal way if you want it brought out at the tea party (but its not a separate birthday tea party if you see what I mean - looks like its going back to how it was at the Plaza Gardens tea party).

They would not let me do this last time ballet - I tried several times. First time we booked seperate they did but all times after they would not. We just go to the hotel and are usually checked in by 2pm and the room is usually ready. No queues at all so it is much easier, everyone is at the parks. We could have left our luggage with them if the room was not ready though so either way it is not a problem if you cannot get the express.

To be honest, I do not think we lost much of the day as we have waited in that queue for the Express Check In for half an hour before - and you can do the Disney Express on the way home so they take your cases to the station, leaving you to go off an enojy the rest of your day. We usually get rid of them at breakfast and then go out for the rest of the day. You can book it at the hotel the morning you leave and it costs a few Euros per case.

Can I also ask general consensus on peoples choice of sequoia lodge or newport bay. As i mentioned earlier, going on 26th May and it does state the swimming pool will be closed until the 27th. Thanks again for your help.

the sequoia lodge is usually the cheaper of the 2, they are next to each other around the lake, so its really going to be down to which theme you like best :). they are the same star rating - and you may find you don't have time to swim anyway.

Yeah I was reading that and wondered if it had finished. Was thinking about going this year whilst we are in Paris and taking my daughter with us for her birthday.

In reply to mucky, I have stayed at both and they are both really good, NBC is huge, and I feel sometimes it is to big. Sequoia lodge is a really nice hotel and a great atmosphere IMO and slightly cheaper.
Just had a quick look online and if I decided to go to Disney for a few days after our Paris trip, 3 of us (3 adults) would cost £520 for 2 nights/3 days, which is a fab price.
