    No problem.

I started looking at the Davey Crocket Ranch.

Then I decided it might be too far out and a bit basic, so I looked at the Hotel Cheyenne.

But it gets mixed reviews so I looked at the NewYork hotel.

But it is apparently not as good for kids.

THen I looked at the Disney hotel, which is very expensive.

I am thinking that the MovenPick Dream Castle or the Mytravel Explorers hotels might be best if someone can explain how park tickets and offers work in these.

I've stayed at the Santa Fe a while a go which is on par with the Cheyenne and found it adequate but basic. I also know someone who recently stayed at Davey Crockett Ranch and had no complaints.

If you're travelling with kids there are more things you need to consider i.e. DC Ranch you get separate bedroom and a basic kitchenette also access to a swimming pool but need to have a car to drive to the Disney Park (approx 15mins). At the Santa Fe it was only a short shuttle bus ride to the park but the accommodation did not have separate bedrooms and had no kitchen facilites at all, not even a fridge (I can't remember if there was a kettle though).

You do get what you pay for but it does depends what your priorities are as to which you should choose.

Balletshoes, I just checked out that review page and saw that Santa Fe is Cars themed. I know my kids will love it so I think we are going to stay there next time.

Ok i have found a deal for £400 for disneyland, and I have found cheap flights which brings the price to an affordable amount!!

But I have never booked flights before and I'm unsure about if you have to pay any extras on top of this? airport taxs and stuff!

Its been yrs since i went abroad and it was a package last time so fairly straight forward.

Also is there an easy way from the airport to Disneyland? and how far is it?

The only problem is the airport is an hour and a half to get to and then theres all the waiting around, my partner ideally wants to go on the eurostar which is £100 more expensive but it stops right on our doorstep pretty much!"! Ekkk, i just find it hard paying more for a couple days away then i do for a whole weeks holiday and then some, i know DLP is a great experience (for the kids at least :P) but still!

    Thanks all

    Hiya,
We travelled to DLP by Eurostar a few years ago and I would say that if you can afford the extra then I would do it.
Eurostar was so easy. You say that it almost picks you up from your doorstep which is great but then it drops you off actually at the DLP gate. Then if it is too early too access your hotel room just check your bags in at the station and they will take your bags to your hotel for you so you can go straight into the park and start enjoying yourself.
Also on your departure day you can check your bags into your hotel, spend the day in the park and collect your bags at the station prior to your train departing. It's all very well organised.

yes I've stayed there since it became Cars themed - the big billboard outside the hotel which used to have Clint Eastwood on it now has Lightning and Sally, and the bedspreads in each room have the Cars characters on :). The room refurbs include new flat screen TVs too.

Been reading these posts but can someone give me some info on the following questions:

    1. Disney's Newport Bay Club - is it a good one to stay in?

    2. How busy will the park be in April?

    3. FastTrack Pass and Premiums Passes - Whats the difference and where do you get these?

    Thanks
    J

    Hi,

    1. I've no idea about this one.

    2. I think the park's fairly busy all year round it's more to do with trying to avoid school holidays and also Fri-Sun the locals tend to go, so weekends can be extremely busy. As long as you miss the easter hols it should be quite comfortable.

    3. The FastTrack Passes are available on the more popular rides. You go to an area near the ride you want where they have these machines, put your park ticket in and your get a receipt with a time slot for you to ride (about 30mins I think) and then you can skip a lot of the queue. Premium Passes I'm not sure on but you probably would have to pay for these and if you are going in April avoiding Easter then I don't think it would be worth it.

OK we have booked it - so excited now!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see DS face on Christmas day :-)
Re the above do you have to/is it advisable to book in advance for the lunch with Mickey? As breakfast is already paid for and you don't seem to think it's worth it would definitely love to do the lunch.
DS is 4, is there anything else we should plan in for the few days?

Thanks for the great advice, are you Mickey and Minnie Mouse posting under pseudonyms .............................

    Hi,
You may be able to do the breakfast in Fantasyland which is free to DLP hotel guests. The food is the same as you get in the hotel but you get into the park an hour early - we were able to meet Winnie-the-Pooh as soon as he came out without queuing.

Hi, I just did this in mid Dec. The seats on Eurostar are pretty comfortable and seriously, with a magazine, the hour between St Pancras to Lille will pretty much go quickly.

Stopover is an hour in Lille. You could wait in the waiting room - there is a pub/restaurant next to the waiting room if you want to go for coffee. Or if you are travelling light, you could pop into Carrefour or EuroLille next door to the station for a wander. The platform for the TGV to Marnee de Vallee will only pop up 20min before departure.

One word of warning : Usually two trains will be on the same platform going to different destinations. Make sure you get onto the right one. We almost got onto one going to Perpignan and only managed to get onto the right train with 2 min to spare!

wow. tht is a bit hairy with 2 min to spare, wouldnt have known these tips if you didnt mention. You probably have just saved my life here...Thanks ....ssssss .

so many helpful ppl here with good and sound advice. Wish you all win the lottery each (yup, each on separate week!!):j:j
  • hope this helps, enjoy planning your trip :).

Ah thanks so much for your reply - its great......its all questions at the moment - we have been advised not to book the buffallo bill wild west show, would you agree with this? Also would you book the princess character meal at lunch or dinner if you had the choice.

We want to eat somewhere nice on the saturday night for my husbands 40th but somewhere child friendly but not an all you can eat buffet place more of a table service place.

Do we need to take anything special for the children - a friend advised an autograph book and pen, disney fancy dress costume etc.

definitely bring costumes from the UK, as they are soooo expensive out there!

autograph books and pens can be bought in the shops, and are reasonably priced :)
  • Ah thanks for the advice...
