Thankyou so much for all your help, I've managed to book our first trip :T, decided to go by plane as travel from Mancheseter and cost of Eurostar was almost the same as the plane tickets.

Hopefully next time we'll go at a quieter time and the costs will be lower via Eurostar :)

We are going to Paris in February..Has anyone any idea when the entrance tickets for disneyland Paris will be on sale and if they are any cheaper during the winter season as the park closes earlier?

    Hi all
wondered if anyone can help me with Eurostar questions?
We've booked to go to DLP (our 3rd time) for my 40th in October !!! - big kids really.:j

Just looking at different options to get there - in the DLP brochure on the Eurostar page it shows a Kids pack (colouring, puzzle, satchel etc) and it says given to all kids on the direct service - now does anyone know if this is only if you book the Eurostar with DLP themselves or if its for all young travellers - my boys would be rather upset if some kids were given them and not others.

Also has anyone used the Disney booking in service at the station - says you can buy it as an option if Eurostar not booked thru them - is it worth it? is it stress free? has anyones luggage been left behind lol?
    thanks in advance
    Sal

    Hi

From what i remember anyone could get a kids pack, they were in a big pile on the desk. My girls are 15 and 19 so have no interest in one now but i know the last time we went from Ashford they were asking if anyone wanted one.

I think you are talking about the Disney Express service where they take your cases to your hotel and you can go straight to the park. Bare in mind you still have to queue with your cases once you get to the station at the Disney luggage desk where they are taken from you before being whisked off to your hotel.
I have used it twice and to be honest i now don't bother. Unless you run there is always a massive queue to give your cases in, It is just as easy to walk out the station and jump on the bus to your hotel, check in and leave your cases there. I would rather put the money towards a meal or something.

Have to confess not a single parent, but been several times and have done most, though not all, things - and I too get very panicy about things. Euros are very simple, they have numbers clearly on everything, and the staff are generally helpful.

I can't help with luggage or train as we drive, but check in has always been very straight forward, although you'll probably have to queue.
Go prepared for the long day - this is my stressers list - couple of drinks, snack bars/ sweets, camera, pen and autograph book, plasters, paracametol, waterproof, spare shorts for ds, anti-bac gel, wipes, tissues. Pick up the guides to the park and events (inc character meets) as you go in and hang on to them as you cant get them easily once you are in the park.

Avoid weekend if you can as these get very busy. Be realistic about how much you and lo can do - there is a lot of walking and standing around so don't feel you have to do everything in one go. There are a few play areas which are great for letting them just cool off - Woody Round-up is a big space and often very quiet (although they do seem to be using it more now for character meets) - get yourself a drink from the cart or cafe next door and have some cool off time = you'll both need it. Sit down whenever you get the chance - your feet will thank you later!
Depending on whether your lo is a morning person or night bird, make the most of the hours. Our son is an early bird so we tend to be in as early as poss (7am breakfast regulars), but he struggles after 8pm so we don't do nightlife. We take a portable dvd for him, and later us - 9.30pm we are normally crashed on the bed with a glass of wine watching a movie!
Characters -there are generally quiet a lot about, but tracking down a particular one can be a nightmare, so try not to promise certain one! Last time we met Capt Jack, Peter Pan, Eeyore, Pooh, Smee, Cinderella and Prince Charming just walking past, without having to queue.

Wow Brummig, what an great post! Thank you for all the info. It's always great to get different peoples opinions of the same place and their handy tips.

I took the plunge, held the panic in and booked mine and DD's holiday to Disneyland Paris :D:eek::j
I paid a deposit through First Choice as they book direct with Disney but could then pay just the deposit instead of the full amount. The deal I've got I feel is great so am trying to just think positive and try not to freak myself out too much!

I've taken on the advice re half board and have not booked it yet. Will wait until nearer the time and ask again if people think its worth booking and can always add it on another time.

Again, thank you to everyone for all the info

Brill - I've booked the same deal, but for a little earlier in March :T.
  • Hi Kaz,
We just booked it, from Yorkshire for me, wife and three kids.
Travel agent quoted us £2,400 for four days (3 nights) in a hotel just outside the Disneyland Paris resort.
I booked everything direct online, including BMI Baby flights from East Midlands airport, taxi transfer to the Magic Circus hotel, FIVE days (FOUR nights) in hotel, five-day passes included for all of us, and parking at east Midlands airport for the car. All in was £1,400 - saved a grand!!
All it took was some time on Google and a few phone calls. Go for it!

If you know where you want to eat, it does no harm to pre-book your tables (and if you want to eat at Cafe Mickey, you should definitely pre-book - it gets very busy).
You can call to book on 0033 160 304050.

You will need to call Disney (or go to your travel agent if you booked with a TA) to upgrade, and you must do it before you arrive, otherwise you will be paying the "walk in" rate at your chosen hotel which is much much higher than the pre-book rate.
