If flying is too expensive, Eurostar direct train (once you get on it at St Pancras) is by far the most convenient way of reaching Disneyland Paris - as you do arrive right at the gates of the park.
I can't help you with the best way of getting from your home to St Pancras in time for the Eurostar I'm afraid, hopefully someone will be able to do that though.
If you're struggling to find a "flash sale" price online, try phoning Disney and ask them to help you - the number to call is 08448 008111. I believe Expedia are also running the flash sale prices for onsite hotels, so you might something there too. I'm aware time is running out for you (the flash sale ends tomorrow doesn't it?), some of the flash sale dates and hotels may be booked up already (they only allocate a certain number of rooms in each hotel on specified dates at flash sale price, then it reverts to the normal price again).
I hope you get something booked at a price you like.
Oh, and don't worry about the half board meal plan just now - you can add that to your booking up to a couple of days before you arrive, you don't need to make that decision right now.0 -

Can anyone advise me on tickets and transport for my trip on a budget...Many thanks.0 -
Thanks, Almost booked for the 10th, just realised we don't have passports do we require passports to France or would my Driving Licence and childrens' birth certificates be sufficient? (My husband does have a passport)0

I don't know if that would be enough Sara - maybe be better to post a new thread in this forum to ask that question?0

Yes you do need passports for France and any other european country.
ETA if your children have different surnames to you (mine do) as I remarried, it would be prudent to take their birth certificates with you as I was asked at Customs coming back re DD2's status and 'could I prove she was my daughter'...as we were going back the Customs Official said it was of no consequence but commented that someone in the UK Customs had not done their job properly and that he would have refused us entry if we couldn't prove my daughter was mine.
Easily remedied, I'll just keep her birth certificate with her passort in future.

And passports are so expensive. My husband and I already had ours (though I had to take the marriage certificate along as mine is in my maiden name), but had to get passports for our 2 children. £49 each! Make sure you allow plenty of time just in case there's a mistake. We used the PO check and send service which failed us. When our sons were born we had their birth certificates laminated. Turns out they are useless when applying for a passport! As we didn't have much time we had to use our register office 1 day service to get new birth certificates which cost us £60 for them both!!! Made it an expensive trip!
Anyway...! I was wondering if anyone knows if the 40% off offer is likely to come back on again soon? I was waiting for a friend to let me know if they wanted to come with us when we go back in December, but the day she told me was the day the new sale started!! So i'll be gutted if we've missed out as the new 'extra night free' offer doesn't save as much money (£100 different).0 -
From the way things are going this year, I think its a pretty fair bet that there will be more offers to come for later in the year.
This is the 2nd 50% off flash sale in about 2 months, the 40% off deals have already been extended, there has been a 2nights/2days free period for winter 2010/11 (which didn't seem to last long) and last year for December dates there was an "all your meals free" deal.0 -

Wow, thanks for that. That's a lot of deals! I think i'll just keep watching the website then (and this forum lol).
The tricky thing is tying it in with cheap Eurostar tickets. Prices now are about £260 for 4 seats return from Ashford, which is the same that we paid for only 2 seats a couple of months ago (definitely getting seats for the boys this time as there just wasn't enough space when they both fell asleep on the way home).0 -
My thinking about the half board option was just not having to worry about food money so much as we would use them for the buffet meals and to not get too stressed over the prices of the meals....my hair actually went like  when I looked at the menu prices for EuroDisney lol.
I've never used Euros before so am a bit worried about the spending money as I have no credit card (don't want another one ever again!) so they only money i will have is what i can take...
Any single parents taken their child/ren to Disney got any tips for luggage, the train journey, meeting the characters etc I would love to hear your stories and tips for surviving the trip!
Steph
Have to confess not a single parent, but been several times and have done most, though not all, things - and I too get very panicy about things. Euros are very simple, they have numbers clearly on everything, and the staff are generally helpful.
I can't help with luggage or train as we drive, but check in has always been very straight forward, although you'll probably have to queue.
Go prepared for the long day - this is my stressers list - couple of drinks, snack bars/ sweets, camera, pen and autograph book, plasters, paracametol, waterproof, spare shorts for ds, anti-bac gel, wipes, tissues. Pick up the guides to the park and events (inc character meets) as you go in and hang on to them as you cant get them easily once you are in the park.
Avoid weekend if you can as these get very busy. Be realistic about how much you and lo can do - there is a lot of walking and standing around so don't feel you have to do everything in one go. There are a few play areas which are great for letting them just cool off - Woody Round-up is a big space and often very quiet (although they do seem to be using it more now for character meets) - get yourself a drink from the cart or cafe next door and have some cool off time = you'll both need it. Sit down whenever you get the chance - your feet will thank you later!
Depending on whether your lo is a morning person or night bird, make the most of the hours. Our son is an early bird so we tend to be in as early as poss (7am breakfast regulars), but he struggles after 8pm so we don't do nightlife. We take a portable dvd for him, and later us - 9.30pm we are normally crashed on the bed with a glass of wine watching a movie!
Characters -there are generally quiet a lot about, but tracking down a particular one can be a nightmare, so try not to promise certain one! Last time we met Capt Jack, Peter Pan, Eeyore, Pooh, Smee, Cinderella and Prince Charming just walking past, without having to queue.Be the change you want to see :j0 -
Thanks, I was looking at both Eurostar and flying, going by plane works out really expensive but I am concerned that either we'd get lost or miss one of the connections if travelling by Eurostar!! (I also worry about things going wrong!)
We'd be travelling from Manchester for two nights, two adults and two children hoping that we can also book meals as looking through the thread it appears that food will be really expensive!
Ideally I'm looking to spend no more that £1100 and as its the first time we'd be travelling want it to be hassle free. thankyou so much for all your help.
I've tried booking the 28th of August for Santa fe however it comes up as £426 for two nights, not sure what I've done wrong but this is the lowest price I've found.
I'd say the eurostar (as long as you get the direct service) is less stressful and certainly less confusing then flying.
On the Eurostar once your on board, you can just sit there until the train stops right at the entrance to disney, you really cant get it wrong! Flying on the other hand, CDG airport is a little confusing, and then you would need to arrange transfers/taxi/train to Disney itself as the airport is a fair way away.
By the way yes you 100% definately need a passport for everyone going, and remember that if it will be a 1st passport for any of you, you need to do the interview thing now, so allow plenty of time for that.0
