Disneyland Paris/EuroDisney - Questions & Answers

Thanks for your reply Amandada.
Well I've just booked it - yay :j! We are going for 4 nights instead of 3 that I'd originally priced it for. Easyjet have a sale on so with the slightly cheaper flights it was only costing an extra £32 to stay the extra night. We've decided to stay at Santa Fe, hopefully the weather won't be too bad and I'll not regret not booking a hotel with a pool.
So for the 4 of us (oh, ds (almost 4) and dd (almost 2)) we are £199 for flights (from Edinburgh) and £518 for hotel, which includes the free meals offer so £717. Just have the transfers from the airport and back to arrange. I fancy the super fast train as the kids will be free but we can't book that yet.
Thanks everyone for your help. I can't wait!!0 -
Starrie - if at all possible don't go on those dates - we spent Christmas at Disney a couple of years ago and although Christmas day itself was great, the days after were absolutely manic - queues for everything and hard to walk around the park itself. Have a look at the Magic Circus hotel - we used to stay there when it was owned by Holiday Inn and it still looks good value. Free bus transfer but walkable (just about!)
When our children were small we used to spend an afternoon just wandering around the different hotel playgrounds -and now they are older we spend an evening wandering around the hotel bars!
We have been going to Disneyland Paris for about 15 years now - love it! We are spending our 25th wedding anniversary there this December - can't wait! Wanted to stop at the Disneyland hotel but couldn't justify the price with DH out of work.0 -

I hope you have a ball! We certainly did and I feel more than a little envious of you!0 -
We're just back from our maiden trip. The free meals deal is a good one, because £10ish per head for a fast food lunch and £22+ for an evening buffet would soon add up!
If I had to do it all again though, I'd shun the Disney hotels and stay here:
LINKY.
We stayed there on our first night, having found the place on Lastminute.com as a "secret hotel" - it was fairly obvious where it was though. For £55 we got a spotlessly clean self-catering flat with two bedrooms, kitchen, electric window shutters. It terms of comfort, space, facilities and contemporary feel Sequoia Lodge was a massive step down - it's the first hotel I've ever been in where you don't even get a kettle in the rooms.
There's a free shuttle to DLP - if I wanted to save money I'd stay there, make packed lunches, and home-cook a decent evening meal with food bought from Aachen.::Quidco.com - £1100 in 11 months. Kerr-ching! ::0 -
Fogg1969, great post, great tip! Taking DD next month and was originally going to stay at Sequoia Lodge because of the character meet+greet but thinking we can make our money go further by staying at your secret hotel. Will be able to even afford to stay longer!DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0

Have found room availability for 28/12 for 3nights and we will be going by train as we live in the Kent pocket. Do I now just need to book passes to the Disney park? Or pay day to day once we are there for entry?DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0

wannabe_moneysaver wrote: »Good point too. To be totally honest, and I know this is probably completely wrong, I'm just wondering if there will be enough in the parks to keep the kids entertained for 3 days! They will be almost 4 and almost 2. I've had a look on the website and I picked up a DLP brochure yesterday but a lot of the rides/attraction information don't give height restrictions, just that its good for little ones. EDIT: I will go to the library tomorrow, I see they have a DLP 2008/09 book so will no doubt get the info from that.
I remember trying really hard to not be disappointed at DLP when I went in 2004 as I had been to WDW 4 times before that and obviously its on a completely different scale and can't be compared. I had a good time then and it will be totally different going with the kids and seeing their reaction etc. We'll be doing things at a much slower pace and have different "must sees" since it will be all about the kids. I know they have added a few things since I've been but I just can't help wondering! Probably a crazy point!
I must agree with you 100% on your point that if you have visited wdw then you dhould not expect dlp to be on the same scale
as you i visited wdw 4 times before having the kids and if i had the money and the kids were older would have booked wdw in a heart beat as its truly amazing and on a different level
but saying that we have taken the kids to dlp twice this year with the sun holidays and they were 2 and 3 when we fist took them
i was plesently surprissed at what they had for the young ones to do and when i stopped comparing dlp to wdw i enjoyed myself too
one of the biggest problems for me is i was comparing the parades to wdw when you just can not also i keept looking for info on fireworks as wdw hold a display each night at epcot
but all in all dlp is great and i would reccomend it to all :T0 -

Thanks Amandada, that's kind of you.
Fishingcinema - I have already said to DH that its nothing like WDW (apart from the Mouse etc!) as he hasn't been to DLP and I would hate for him to be disappointed. More importantly though, the kids will love it and I was pleased to read you found lots to do for your lo's.
I'm really looking forward to it. I can't wait to get the book I've seen recommended here and start making some notes - I'm really anal about that kinda thing, I'll get myself a notepad, maybe stick some mickey ears on it......lol! And of course, I'll have to re-read all 158 pages of this thread! I love all the preparation before this kind of holiday.0 -
Hi
We've just booked a family of four on the eat for free deal. Kids are 5 and 2. Our confirmation letter mentions free meal tokens for the adults and our 5 year old but nothing about food for our 2 year old.
Do 2 year olds normally eat free or do I need to pay?
Any help greatly appreciated
Many Thanks
Simon0
