  • Thanks everyone for your help. I'm waiting for a quote so will hopefully get something booked before the weekend.

I received a mailing from WDW, Orlando today (my fav place in the world!)and was temporarily thinking about going there instead. I have my sensible head on these days and realise we couldn't afford it and have decided to go back to the original plan of going there when the kids are older and we've had time to save properly.

So it looks like DLP is definitely on, just have to decide on the hotel.

One more question if I can, does anyone know at what time the parks usually close in March? I'm mindful about what LouLou said about the parks closing earlier than peak times so trying to decide if we should go for a hotel with a pool so there is something else to do.

    Thanks again.

even if they do close earlier, by the time you have eaten, you and the kids will be too knackered to do any further activities !

after a full on day trapsing around the parks, all you'll want is your bed !!:D

for years we booked sequoia lodge, intending to use the pool - it never happened, so we switched to cheyenne for all the following years, and saved some dosh!

Good point too. To be totally honest, and I know this is probably completely wrong, I'm just wondering if there will be enough in the parks to keep the kids entertained for 3 days! They will be almost 4 and almost 2. I've had a look on the website and I picked up a DLP brochure yesterday but a lot of the rides/attraction information don't give height restrictions, just that its good for little ones. EDIT: I will go to the library tomorrow, I see they have a DLP 2008/09 book so will no doubt get the info from that.

I remember trying really hard to not be disappointed at DLP when I went in 2004 as I had been to WDW 4 times before that and obviously its on a completely different scale and can't be compared. I had a good time then and it will be totally different going with the kids and seeing their reaction etc. We'll be doing things at a much slower pace and have different "must sees" since it will be all about the kids. I know they have added a few things since I've been but I just can't help wondering! Probably a crazy point!

it'll be pretty manic, but just chill out and enjoy it
kids faces just seeing the characters will be enough to keep them going

loads more stuff in the Studio Park for little ones to do now, so that should keep them occupied

loads of 'meet and greet' character opportunities going on also
not to mention the shops and the disney Village always has a great atmosphere to wander through

    they will love it
    but they'll be knackered !!

  • Aw that's great, just what I needed to hear. I hope I didn't sound like I was "dissing" DLP, that wasn't the intention. Thanks again.
  • Hi,
I've spent the past couple of days trying to research a trip for 4 yo DD and myself to go to disneyland paris for 3 or 4 nights, any days between 28th Dec and 2nd Jan and just seem to have overloaded myself with info - so I would appreciate any help!

The disneyland site doesn't allow bookings for these dates - does anyone know when they'll be released?

And I'm guessing it will be very busy - can anyone offer a guide on queue times?

Sorry if this has been posted already - I'm new
  • also, i've found eurostar tickets and a three night stay at the Hôtel l'Elys!e Val d'Europe for £443 for 28th to the 31st? does this sound reasonable?

    hi

we've been several times in december, and it can get very cold, especially late on in the eve

its quite often sunny, but freshly cold during the day
but once the sun dips, it will be much colder

we always take thermals to wear under trousers, or salopettes for the kids
if you have room, just take what you can to cover your self - better to have too many warm clothes than not enough:confused:

feet get really cold walking/standing around on concrete pavements all day, so take warm boots and lots of socks

hats, scarves and gloves are obviously a no-brainer, but no doubt you can buy some nice disney themed ones out there when you get there

Better go and find ther cheapest place to find thermals for the boys then, not sure how hard this will be for a 2 & 4 year old without having to pay up

m&s, matalan, asda - those sorts of places will all do them
    not expensive at all

Hi, I've been looking for thermals recently -you get mens long johns and vests for £5 each and kids pack of 2 vests for around £5 (not sure about long johns for wee ones) in Primark. I seen ladies vests and long johns in Matalan today for £5 each. I've not looked in Primark for ladies stuff yet. Hope this helps!

Edit: Just remembered I picked up packs of 3 pairs men & ladies thermal socks in Poundland today too. They had kids ones too but I didn't look at the sizes.

    Thanks again.

We went in March this year and it was FAB! The parks closed at 7pm.

I'd highly recommend the Sequoia Lodge-and the bonus is it had a pool! We got really great weather apart from one afternoon, so this was the 1 time the pool came in handy. If you're anything like us, you'll be too exhausted to really use the pool.
We enjoyed the Sequoia-not luxury but very acceptable given that we really only were using the room for sleeping in-and our family is 2 adults, a 12 year old girl and a 7 year old boy. Friends of ours went there a couple of weeks ago and thought the same as we did. I'd definitely use it again.
If I was really looking for something to criticise about the room, it would be that there was no wardrobe, but an alcove with a hanging rail for clothes-plenty hangers though, and like I say, this is with me being really picky!
